Fabia VRS Mk2 on 16" wheels

Featured Replies

Hi all

Mrs T is fed up of the very stiff ride of the Mk2 VRS on Eibach springs on Lincolnshire's poorly maintained roads. We both still love the car but would like to soften the ride and whilst I know that changing the springs and shocks will probably deliver the most significant improvement Mrs T would like a little more tyre on the road so wants to go down to 16" wheels before changing anything else. So, grateful if you could provide recommendations for 16" wheels for the Fabia Mk2 VRS. Octavia spiders are the obvious choice so does anyone have ant pictures of their Fabias, ideally VRS, on 16" spiders?

I never found 16,s to give a better ride, even snow tyres.   You are as well to fit 215/40 r 17 or 205/45 r 17 with soft sidewalls,   but personally I stuck with them with XL sidewalls.

I found the difference in handling noticable, but no big change in ride comfort. The difference in handling on my car must also be attributed to wheels of lower weight and different oddset and width. Got a set of Volk Group CV 16x7/16x8 on.

^^^?

With what size and brand / type tyres used?

205/50 Hakka Black + 225/45/16 Kumho Ecsta KU31 I think.

You could spent a fortune on coil overs and tweaking the suspension here and there but its not going to gain much, Even from standard the ride is shocking and unfortunately its one of the down side of the car's. Had the opportunity to try coil overs and I kid you not they felt worse than my lowering springs.

I'm probably gonna make you cringe as I'm eyeing up 18's.
