Windscreen wiper problem

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, I have fabia 2015 plate the windscreen wipers still come on when switched off,  they  still come on intermittently every 10 seconds   and in the intermitent posisition they are on continiously no matter the setting. It is going into my local skoda dealer but not for another 10 days. I took the fuse panel off under the steering wheel with the intention of removing the fuse and putting it back in only when required for the time being ( no 22 on the diagram) however the wipers still remain on. Any reason why this still happens, I can remove the fuse under bonnet but obviously not as convenient. Thanks for any replies and help.

There has been a bit of this reported across the Fabia/Polo/Ibiza forums for this age of car!

Edit:- well the 2014 Polo 6C was the wiper stalk assembly - outside warranty so £150 inc fitting, a later Polo 6C has this fault but is still to be worked on by the dealership within warranty.

Another Edit:- sorry £150+ bill.

There is someone in the Polo forum with a 2014 car that is currently in the dealer for 2 days to get this and another problem sorted out, he should report back on what was needing to get changed/done tomorrow or Friday at the latest.

When he booked his car in he was told "we are seeing quite a few Polos with this problem"  - same thing when he reported having a noisy Air Con system which is probably a shortage of refrigerant for one reason or another.

Well the 2014 Polo that had this issue, was luckily still under warranty, maybe used car VW warranty, so the wiper switch needed replacing which they claimed would have cost circa £200!  The lose of refrigerant was due to a leaking condenser which would have cost slightly more, so all in all that warranty seems to have paid for itself. His only issue was that he needed to request that they price matched an oil change with a local Skoda dealer which they did - then pay £7 for a new DRL bulb including fitting.

An update I took out the wiper fuse for a couple of days rather than the wiper being on all the time when I put it back in , the wipers are back to working normally?. The fault must have cleared itself!

Which fuse did you take out , the one by the steering wheel or the one under the bonnet

I took out the one under the bonnet

The fault returned the next day and I took it into my local skoda garage who said it was a faulty wiper switch and replaced under the warranty.

Thanks for getting  back to me , my warranty  ended 18th  september  , do you know which  switch they replaced , was it the Stalk on the steering wheel .
