Fabia fuel cap holder

Featured Replies

Hi everyone.

Wanted to show the fuel cap holder that I 3D printed this weekend.

It fits In the slot in the fuel door where the ice scraper goes.

Australian spec cars do not come with the scraper, as most of our climate wouldn’t need it.

I would be happy to print them for any Australian members who might want one and don’t have access to a 3D printer.

Just cover costs and postage. Around $2 in material. Postage would vary by location obviously.

Heres a link to to the file for anyone with a 3D printer that might want one.

www.thingiverse.com/thing:3208302   (This is my own remix of the original file)

the original one wasn’t quite to my liking. So I took the file and modified it.

printed the first one in PLA at 60% infill and .2 layer height.

Might have to print in PETG depending on how it goes in the Australian summer.

The holder fits the Rapid also. Don’t know what other cars it might fit.

Have only tested on the 2018 Fabia and Rapid.

In the UK you can slot the fuel filler cap on the top of the fuel filler door.

The cap has four cutouts in it and you slot two of them over the top edge of the door.

Unless I am doing it wrong. ( again )

Car not here at the minute so I cannot show you a photo.

Thanks AG Falco

Same here,  but it really doesn’t work very well. The cap will fall of if you even look at it wrong.

With this printed part, that’s no longer an issue.

Same with the 6C Polo, on my wife's car I now just make sure that is hanging down without making any marks on the paintwork, no slot for scraper on Polos tho!

One other thing while we are talking about fuel caps, does anyone know if there is an aftermarket source for these rubber tethers that get fitted to these caps, daughter's late 2009 Ibiza appears to have a broken tether appearing from the fuel cover?

You might as well buy the cap as well, plenty on Ebay. Cheap enough.

Yes, it just seems a waste to buy a new cap then take its tether/strap/lanyard and sealing washer off to fit to my daughter's late 2009 Ibiza's locking cap, but it does look like that is the way to go, I might check the broken tether to see if I can join the bits using black heat shrink tubing.
