All season tyres for 19" Craters

Featured Replies

Evening gang. It's becoming more evident that the factory fitted tyres on our 1.5TSI Edition just aren't going to cut it through the winter.

I've looked and looked, but really struggled to find any suitable 225/40/19 tryes to keep me out of the ditches. I'd started looking at 17" wheels to make it easier to find suitable tyres.

I've just found THESE though which look quite promising.

Does anyone have any experience of these, or other suitable tyres?

Vredestein Quatrac 5 seems to have a good rating and reviews, generally a good all rounder, some other all seasons  seem to get marginally better scores in comparison tests, but don’t have the range of sizes available

I have checked quite a few reviews on these as it the only all season that fits our Arona (actually there are also Maxxis AP2, and a Kumho tyre but they reviewed poorly), in the end decided that snow is so rare in Surrey will just use the older Skoda if it snows, as annoying to have to throw nearly new tyres

The alternative is to put full winter tyres on, but obviously not going to be ideal if you leave them on all year (but Yorkshire isn’t Southern Europe where temps of 25-40c are common in summer)

Just out of interest which summer tyre did your car come with.

I have run Vredestein Quatrac 5's as my winters for several years now in North Dorset.

Had no problems with them in wet, ice, snow or even across a ploughed field.

Thanks AG Falco

Your post is confusing. You state you are been looking for 225/40/19 tyres yet that is the wrong size for your car. However the link to Vredestein Quactrac 5 tyres are the correct size (235/40/19). This is a good find for those on 19" wheels and 1.5 TSi engine but no good for current diesel 4x4s with 19" wheels, these sit on 225/50/19 tyres. I'm looking at getting a 1.5TSI 4x4. Anyone know what the tyre size is for 19" wheels for the 1.5TSI 4x4? Not that I want 19" wheels!! I'd be more than happy with 18" wheels but cannot find any all season tyres at all for that wheel size in the obscure 18" tyre sizes Skoda have come up with.

Full winters aren't an option as I've nowhere to keep the summers really.

If I'd not had issues with wheelspinning already, and we didn't live on a hill, I'd chance it with the Cinturato P7s on at the moment - but it's not worth the risk. It's frustrating to have to spend £600 on tyres for a car with 6000 miles on the clock...

Sorry, 235/40/19 is what I've got now, looking for a replacement which matches.

225s are compatible and are listed on most major tyre companies' websites as being correct too, which makes it even harder when trying to find tyres!
