VRS 1.4 TSI Updated Dragy times

Featured Replies

So as some of you are aware I was having some remap issues and a bunch of question marks floating around my head why i wasnt getting faster 0-60 sprints after a remap.

Well i’ve done some changes such as the spark plugs, changed the front tyres (they were due a change anyways) to Uniroyals 215/40/17, installed the GFB DV+ and a fresh half tank of Shell’s v-power (save some weight and ive been told filling the tank full isnt good????)

anywho, after having the EML on for a while due to the GFB DV+ upgrade, going to the styling shop that did the remap, got him to get rid of the EML, also had an air leakage as one of the vacuum hoses must have come loose unbeknownst to me!!

I also instructed him to install a pops&bangs software so now im making popcorn anywhere from 4000rpm’s upwards (i.e downshifting etc) i have a youtube video if anyone’s interested

So, once all of that was done, sorted and i was rest assured, I decided to run some tests with my little friend dragy.

I did about 3 runs on the same stretch of flat surfaced road and well here’s my results:

fastest VALID 0-60 run was 5.78 seconds

fastest 1/4 mile run was 14.3 seconds.

I think it’s safe to say that she’s currently performing very optimally!

I have no clue didnt pay attention at all to the speedometer what should it be?

I assumed the app would tell you as the trap speed gives the best indication of power to weight ratio, and elapsed time gives the best indication of traction/launch. At that ET im expecting a 99-101 which would be something like 215hp.

This is an average run I did the other day in 23c on a crap surface.

You are absolutely right

Quickest was 1/4 mile in 14.13 seconds at 97.48mph i believe

see image below

What is the BHP given these scores?

As a comparison.

Tuned Mk3 Octavia estate timed properly.

http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/439994-14-mile-times-get-them-up

As for your reference to using the handbrake method as opposed to footbrake i found footbrake actually works alot better. And i mean ALOT

how?

i tested both several times and i found that when you let go of the footbrake the car doesnt move for about 1-1.5seconds from the moment the footbrake is released completely. This is when you actually take advantage as the GPS doesnt sense movement the engine i believe is still configuring itself. Once off the footbrake, wait for literally 1/2 second or even 1 whole second, then floor the throttle, and thats how i got the 0-60 in 5.78 seconds after having warmed the tyres adequately

Lovely, but a moped can blow you off to 35mph probably.

Pull up at lights, tyres not warmed, surface is what it is, lights change and off you go.  Real world.

I have tested plenty of cars with DSG, 6 and 7 speed and done lots with Mk2 vRS.

I only have 1 foot so very aware of how DSG's react, and i have a V-Box for timing.

If it does not work for you then no point doing it.

?

Have you tried Manual 1 and not changing gear until you need to go to 5th?

If you Max out the car in 'S' will it go into '7th'?

97mph is going to be in the 205-210hp range, but to be doing 14.3 on a road is phenomenal, either you have an incredible surface or those tyres are still ultra sticky.

Its funny you say that because in London moped riders are hooligans so they all zig zag and go right to the front. Multiple occassions i’ve thrashed any moped that tried it.

But even so, its like comparing a Ferrari to an S3. Of course S3 will be quicker in real world off the line but realistically the Ferrari will demolish it.

even with one foot, when you let go of the brake (in manual or sports mode) you have a fraction of a second before the car begins to roll forward, take advantage of this and slam your foot full throttle, i got the best result this way.

I am scared to abuse the car where im taking it literally all the way to 8000rpm for every gear so no i have not done so. When the guy installed the pops and bangs, he had to remove the rev limiter too so literally 8000rpm is maxed out for me.

I think the redline is 6800

Thanks mouse, makes me happy with a delightful compliment as such. It was a long 5 mile stretch of road where i was able to perform those launches, somewhere in the Harwich area. I had covered about 80 miles on the Mway, so tyres were sooooper grippy, no loss of traction maybe ever so slightly from 0-20 1st gear with TC off

Yes it starts there but since i got the pops and bangs, rev limiter removed, my VRS has been going to 8000rpm.

i’ll do a video with my gopro recording the dash on a launch  and i’ll time myself on that same run too using dragy

By the way, i’m looking the decat it and straight pipe it right through

any advice?

Wow so you must be hitting 60 in 2nd then! no wonder it is so fast. I wouldn't decat because of the MOT issue. My build is extremely low budget and all done myself, but if I had a bit to spend...

I'd upgrade the intercooler, and put on a custom exhaust from the turbo back with a sports cat.

does it let you download the logs as vob files?

reving to 8000rpm would be 55mph on the fabia's ratios

No idea what the being able to take it to 8,000 rpm is all about.

Not much power being produced up there.

Not sure what VOB files are

im going to do a few runs now and upload to youtube to see how and what exactly

any tips?

thinking to mount it to be facing the speedometer only

Correct

not much power

but when i got the pops and bangs installed, removing the rev limiter was part of the package thus allowing the revs to reach fully 8000 rpm

Vob file is a datalog file that can be read by racelogic programmes.

Still bit of work to catch up with this one

To achieve what exactly?

Sorry really struggling to understand

also; that video is insane, must be a stage 3 with major upgrades not to mention it’s in KM/H which will always look mind blowing on the dash

It’s 510bhp and so I can look at the logs and see how it compares to other cars as it’s what I do every weekend at race tracks.

Also the standard turbo is useless about 6600rpm. RTMG increase the redline to 7800 on their hybrids but never 8000
