DQ200 Mechatronics

Featured Replies

Hey.

I own a 2013 Skoda Octavia MK3, India spec. The car comes with a 1.8 liter TSI mated to a 7-speed DSG (the DQ200 dry clutch system). Car has not many kms on it, roughly 26,000 only. One fine day, the car refused to start as the car was not detecting itself in P mode. Called Skoda road side and asked them to take the car to the workshop where it turned out the dreaded mechatronics unit had failed. Okay so they replaced it and fast forward 1000 kms, and this time, the car goes into drive but no movement or anything. Gearbox error pops up on the MID and car is sent for diagnosis.

I was surprised to know that the same part had failed again, within 1000 kms of running. Now the dealer tells me that there is an all new part with new software as well.  Anyone aware of the latest part number of the same so i can cross check ? Or anyone who has faced the same issue?

Thanks

Bharat

Things that kill electronics:

Water,

Heat,

Overvoltage,

Radiation.

I'd guess its one of the first two, if you your car had voltage problems you'd be frying other modules as well and I put radiation in the list a joke, if there was enough radiation about to fry the electronics in your car, a dead car would be the least of your worries.

He said mechatronics not electronics.

What kills mechatronics is usually hydraulic issues or mechanical misalignment from poor installation.

There could also be a gear train or clutch issue.

Mechatronic.

Behind that metal shielding is an electrical circuit.

If it's hydraulic problems then it's almost always heat related. Heat or contamination in the fluid.

Commonly it is leaking of fluid with a 2013-2015 DQ200 DSG.

@bharatiyer

Has your car had or is Service Campaign '34H5' outstanding. A Software Update that was introduced in 2017 because of pressure issues that could result in fluid leaks and MCU failure?

I was informed by the service advisor that they had a software issue that caused the error, though i do suspect that they made an error during installation. My car was not recalled for any software update, so probably they did forget to update it when the changed the unit last time. Let me check regarding the part number and the software that is being updated now.

Cannot be heat related since the car was stationary at a covered parking. I am suspecting contamination too now, so i think they did have an issue during installation.
