Skoda Campster

Featured Replies

I have done a very basic camper conversion on my Skoda Roomster and have now travelled around 18,000 miles through europe this year. The car has been great and apart from a brake light bulb not had any mechanical issues at all. I did have fun in Portugal where I tried to get the oil changed at a main dealer!

If anyone is interested I can post more info?

Paul

Please do post more with pictures.

Thread moved & tidied up.

I am fairly new to posting but I thought my roomster experience worth sharing. I have to say that should have read 18,000 km but I still have a way to go.

I used whatever wood that was available and made a basic frame. The rear part hinges to access storage and the front part folds down once the front seats are moved as far forward as they will go. It makes for a reasonably comfortable space. I made insulated blackout curtains from a foil bubble insulation material and these fit with velcro. I have been away since March and although do have a tent i have spent some time in the roomster.

The plan was to have no plan, decide on the day where to go and so far has been through France, Italy, Greece, back through Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, Northern Spain and on to France again. Currently in the Alps...

I use a tomtom app on my phone for navigation and usually set it on winding routes. These have been interesting roads and I have done many offroad miles.

I guess I need to sort out the photo file size as I have reached a limit. I need to find out how to do this on a phone!

Am really interested and inspired, can you please post some more pictures in particular one with the front section folded back and the rear seats upright and also folded forward.

Looks simple and effective, like the idea of the blackout curtains, I did a similar conversion to a Nissan Prairie while travelling in New Zealand and used reflective windscreen sun shields cut down to fit the other windows.
