Is this full “slayer” spec Ross?

Looks well in fairness, can’t be many about nowadays? When I was selling them the only ones we sold of these were forced allocated to the dealers as registered cars, you used to get a 2.0 Fabia delivered along with a 1.9 sdi saloon usually. They had to be cheap to shift them.

I haven’t seen many. 2002 Elegance so no cruise control (can this be retrofitted? 😋) but electric rear windows.

Didn't realise they did a 2.0 Fabia, had to Google it for confirmation!

The photo is pretty good conformation lol

Ahh the rare Mustang killer.

Looks in very good condition Ross 👍

Very nice.

Still miss ours, and we had 4 lecy Windows. Those alloys are still one of the nicest designs.

Ours had stiffer springs and ARB fitted and was great.

I know right, I have a spare set of 312 mm brakes too and toyed with the idea of putting them on but can't and keep these wheels.

That looks very clean, any interesting plans for it?

didn't know they used the VW (mk4 golf gti) 2.0 petrol engine in the fabia

shame it's not the 16v version

Looks very tidy for its age.

Decided to give it a thorough service and check over today.

Full service inc:

Engine oil

Engine oil filter

Air filter

Fuel filter

Spark plugs

HT leads

Gearbox oil

And I wanted to have a crack at polishing the headlights as they were quite opaque.

Went wrong almost at the start when the sump plug pulled the thread out of the sump, sigh. Still I had half a mind to drop the sump anyway to check the oil pick up pipe so at least that’s checked off the list now. Fuel filter was the original and some 17 years old, certainly didn’t want to come off, but got there in the end.

I know but then there wasn’t a 16v version of this engine in the MK4 Golf either. The ABF was replaced by the 1.8T really I guess, both 150 bhp and wouldn’t make much sense to have both.

Getting stuck in as always Ross, at least you’ll know it’s a solid base once you’ve tackled this initial work

Also got myself a sand blasting cabinet, so things are getting cleaned up ready for some new bearings and bushes :)

Subtle but obvious (if that makes any sense whatsoever 😂😂) mod with the new S1 calipers Ross, look right at home behind the lovely style of the OE 2.0 15”s

They kinda confuse as S1 brakes are 310mm which won’t fit behind 15” alloys.

So these are actually MK2 Fabia vRS calipers and carriers that use the same 288 mm discs. I just refurbed them in gloss black after drilling and tapping to fit the S1 plates :)
