Dsg box oil

Featured Replies

Can't remember the actual oil in gearbox on my fabia vrs combi is it mineral or sinthetic, its had its upgrade in past has sticker in spare wheel well. Online only shows sinthetic oils for gearbox, was it the control box which was changed to mineral? Mines all working perfectly but just wish to prolong life

There are 2 oils in the DQ200 DSG and the Service Campaign 34F7 changed the Synthetic Oil to mineral & there was a software update.

IMO let sleeping dogs lie, especially if you do not know what you are doing or a dealership does not.

Want to make sure oil level is correct in gearbox and I'm neurotic about what garages and previous owners have done or not done

Best learn the procedure, get the oil and do the job then.

The level is fine because your DSG is working....

I'm feeling a slight wine at 50mph,in 6 and 7, so doing gearbox oil change and putting in an 10%additive from Germany special for 7 speed dsg

Fair enough. Nothing special about that then, just like doing a regular gearbox oil change.

Yep leaving the control box alone its working just fine

Personally......leave it as it is. You describe a feeling a whine, A whine is a sound and where are you feeling it? As both gears 6 and 7 run off a separate multi plate clutch i'm surprised that its in both gears, What's this additive you speak of as well?

The gearbox takes 1.7 litres of G052 171 oil and the mechatronic takes a separate 1 litre of  G004 000 oil.

Its a complicated job that essentially doesn't need done and speaking for myself here I cant remember many if any cases of DQ200's running out of oil, Usually other problems kill these boxes.

Mathy additive special for the dsg from Germany, I've checked though shafts, brakes all new, it's defo a gear related, it's all working fine, but if you boot it away from standstill there's a gear mesh noise, maybe they all do it? Just trying to prolong its life

You add 10% to oil, I've got mates who have workshops with all the kit, I'm abit creaky these days, built many track cars and restored many classics, but always learning and it's always good to speak with others that have solved a similar problem, good point about if it ain't broke don't fix it 👍, think I need to drive someone else is one to compare

If the additive is DSG specific, why put it in with the regular gear oil?

Supposed to prolong gearbox oil life and reduce friction, all bloody witchcraft mate, and expensive, look them up do lots of stuff

I would air on the cautious side with adding anything to these boxes as they are temperamental enough. Is the additive specific for the DQ200? Dont confuse the DQ200 with its big brother the DQ250 as they are both 7 speed but completely different boxes.

The DQ200 is serviceable however I wouldn't be torqueing it open unless there was a problem, A recent problem to come to light with the DQ200 as it ages is a build up of clutch debri's causing selection issues which requires the box to be opened to clean.

Good point, I've not bought oil yet, was a link from a German company, I think stuff over too much specily when you read the horrer stories of other owners, and I'm over the top with cars after years on track I tune in to vibration, noise, ever bloody thing till I'm used to the car, I thought when I first got her it was brakes dragging or **** pads so replaced discs and pads checked calipers all good, then checked drive line, even thought it might be a wheel bearing, may just wait till I can compare it with another, when I was checking drive line when shafts are rotated gearbox makes some noise more than I'd expect like it needs oil? Who knows

@Pirate76

Are you going with the additive on the strength of  Youtube videos?  Or advice from a DSG Specialist with experience of DQ200's

I would leave well alone and look for the source of the noise from other places.

There are enough consumables to watch and preventative maintenance to do pre-winter than touching a DSG that is working just fine.

If you have still the original water pump and belts save for changing those.

New battery, new alarm siren etc etc.

Don't take much notice of utube, yes will be checking in with a specialist

Not many of them that have much to do with DQ200's so be sure to be sure.

There are more messed up by people without a clue than there are failures from being left well alone.
