Door protector retrofit

Featured Replies

Hello.

In Hungary the plastic door protector disappeared in the new MY2020 model.

Is it possible to retrofit this protectors?

Yes it will be, they're still available as a factory fit so the provision to fit the components will be there, but it is likely as a minimum that you'll have to remove the inner door card.

More pertinently though is why? They're generally problematic and a well document weakness on a lot of Kodiaq's, with a lot of owners choosing to leave damaged ones off the car.

Personally I think this the the reason Skoda have removed them from the standard equipment, a cost saving yes, but also saving a lot of complaints and warranty claims too.

I personally find these protectors really annoying, as you have to always (harder) slam the doors, in order to push the spring that activates the mechanism. Yes, it's protecting the door edge, but you can do it yourself, by paying a little attention.

You can retrofit them "easily" as the door cards have the cutouts etc. You just need the plunger and associated hardware. Dealer said it'd cost NZ$2800 to get done, waste of money.
