1.6 tdi cayc engine fuel in oil????

Featured Replies

I have a 1.6 tdi cayc engine and have diesel in the oil could anyone help think of a reason why? Which caused the oil to thin and in turn cause the engine to run on luckily was able to stop it before any damage was done. I feel I bit rude asking as I have only just joined.

Thanks

Active DPF regenerations and the extra fuelling that is required to make them happen.

Welcome to Briskoda.

What sort of journeys does the car mostly do?

Thank you for the welcome.

It a mixture of driving some days just a hour journey other days 3-4 hour non stop. Sorry to sound daft but how would a dpf regen put fuel in the oil?

Thanks for your help

A bunch of extra fuel is injected late in the cycle to get exhaust temperatures really high to attempt to essentially get a bonfire lit in the DPF.

If for whatever reason this extra fuel doesn't get combusted, or ejected in the direction of the DPF, it may leak down past the piston rings and contaminate the engine oil.

Your journeys should be relatively friendly in terms of opportunities for uninterrupted regenerations though.  How many miles has the car covered? Has it got a good solid service history?

Yes really good history done 130000

I'm with Wino, I think DPF issues are the most likely cause. It could be that the DPF is reaching the end of its life meaning it regens more often, or it could be a failing diff. pressure sensor, either way you wan't to get it diagnosed.

This info is grate help. would a faulty pressure sensor cause a loss of power?

@Dubdubvan

Welcome.

?

Has your car had the Emissions fix.

There are several threads here and in the Roomster section of 1.6TDI that have had then had Diesel in the Oil.

Knocked back by Dealership Employees and by Skoda as anything to do with them and the New Engine Management,

but in the end they have had to accept responsibility.

A bit more to the puzzle white smoke and won't rev over 1500rpm. Could I have a duff injector?

Yes

, & a duff injector has been the cause of diesel in the oil with others.

Also found a loose injector which would explain the fuel in oil,

Have you had a Skoda analyser test done?
