VAG independent uses Fusch oils

Featured Replies

I am no longer using the main dealer as I have found a local VAG specialist garage. I called in for a visit and his servicing bay was full of Skodas, VWs and Audis. On enquiring as to what oil he uses he replied he uses Fusch oil which Skoda recommends. I have not heard of this brand but it is a well-known Germany brand. So after living a life on Shell Ultra Helix, Castrol Edge LL it is having a sump full of Fusch. Hope the Roomster likes it.

You maybe need to read more then on Fuchs.

For years main dealerships have used Quantum, and some will use Fuchs.

There is nothing special about Castrol.  it is just what VW Group have a deal on.

French cars might be TOTAL, Japanese maybe Mobile.

German engines are among the worst for failures, especially VW Group and they recommend Castrol.

Thanks for the links. The info was interesting. Castrol has stickers over the handbook and filler cap but as you say it depends on what supplier the manufacturers have negotiated with. I am surprised with VAG engine reliability. There is no excuse for the failures and unreliability of their units as they have been making them long enough. My early motoring experiences have been honed on BMC A-series engines and Duckhams. I never started a journey believing it would end in failure with that combination.

Possibly not the case now, but some years ago the VW factory fitted oil (Synta Silver?) was Fuchs Titan.  I'm going back to 1989 Mk2 Golf GTI ownership days.
