DPF Warning Light - Best Practice

Hi all,

Unfortunately due to the type of driving I have to do sometimes, I've encountered the DPF warning light on a number of occasions. I just wanted some advice on the best way to do an active regeneration as I have been told two different things, basically to put it in 5th gear or to put it in 3rd gear and go high revs. Which would be better?

There are no motorways near me so it would be easier for me to do the 3rd gear option, as I find it hard to get the revs up in 5th gear near where I live.

Thanks!
