Octavia Scout MY19 firmware updates

Featured Replies

Folks,

I formally asked my servicing dealer if they would consider upgrading the firmware for my Scout.  I have a (really nice) high spec Scout and whilst the vehicle is still running in (its only done 5500 miles), I do have some niggles - and they are mainly software based.

The radio has niggles (it randomly pushes out the shortcut SOS button, then other times not.); and the DSG gearbox has a complete mind of its own in regards to which gear is chosen.  I am also concerned that when cold, you have to put in about 2500 RPM before the car will move in any gear (not good for engine or gearbox).  Is this low fluid in the gearbox / torque converter?

So - (and this probably my downfall) - I got an ODBEleven.  Its a really good piece of kit, but what it has shown in that there are new firmware versions on:

Climatronic (very old version 2502) - available 2540

DSG - slightly old firmware.

Accordingly, the Skoda dealers view is that there are no firmware versions, but obviously, VW group have published updates.  I come from an IT background, so therefore, I want to make sure that I have the latest firmware (not only for improved car running, but for security patches too).  As Skoda dealers are not willing to assist, who is Scotland / UK are the best people to go to - to get these updates?

I have seen a load of hash comments along the lines of...if it isn't broken, don't fix it; but as the cars are highly software dependant, I think this is a move of folly.  Especially as my vehicle has Skoda Connect.

Thanks

It is frustrating that you can't have the modules updated, I'm in IT as well and would prefer to keep the firmware updated on my vRS, it appears though that you have to have a specific issue that a software (or firmware) update will fix before you will get the dealer to update it.

If there are relevant Software Updates or Enhancements like for the ECU / DSG ECU then at Main Dealership Servicing these are supposed to be applied when the Full Diagnostics check is carried out.

What dealership do you use?

West End Skoda in Edinburgh.

I get on well with their Servicing Department; but I suppose it comes down to money and how they can claim it back from VW.

Claim what back?

Your Warranty is with Skoda, if Warranty work is approved they are paid.

Software Updates issued by the Factory because relevant for the efficient and safe running are paid for by you paying ridiculous main dealership service costs.

Any extras you want are for you to pay.

If you want fully trained and highly skilled techs with all the gear and more than just an idea, try here.
