EH / CS ??

I'm scratching my head too.

Good warning.

Why should the timing chain be changed?

The brake fluid can be changed now after checking for the H2O content.

A Major Service can be done, it is just the same as a Minor Service, nothing special there, plenty Skoda Approved Used cars need a service.

As  to the clocking if done before the first MOT in 2017 or since that is an issue.  If the car is a bargain there is a point for negotiation....

Evans Halshaw Car Supermarket Chesterfield.   A guess...

EDIT.   Car Store.

Car advertised with 39,510 miles 17/2/2020

 2020 Mot miles 24,493 January 2020.              So someone can call the DVLA, Trading Standards or anyone they like.

Yes indeed i have done so , they are in some trouble , a company that big doing that to Joe Puplic , it's not on.

A seller / dealer / dealership can discover or suspect a car has the wrong mileage and have the ECU read to get stored miles and find the true mileage and sell with that declared and tell buyers this.

?

The car is advertised with 39,510 miles on it, so is someone being deceived now?

LOL ,You must look at things before you jump the car has a timing belt.

@JED

Yes.

There will be people here on this forum that have not changed a timing belt on a 6 year old TDI with 39,510 miles.

?

Who was clocking the car from 2017-2020?    Do you know them?

Yes they are being deceived .

@JED   Who?

  Are the salespeople saying the car has 24,000 and something miles while it is on the website with 39,510 miles?

:rofl:  Not in Derbyshire. They refuse to have any interaction with members of the public. Just one of many local government services that has more or less closed down over the last few years.

p.s. although you can submit an online report that goes to some blackhole somewhere....

Mileage at MOTs looks OK but it's strange about 15000 miles has gone on in the last month.
How do you know that it has not had a cambelt change or service recently?

@JED  might explain really what his knowledge is of the car and when it went into the Car Store and who's car it was if he knows, and was it them clocking it annually?

Did the car get traded in and then the true mileage found out and the car being sold with that, or is there some more to the story.

Doubt it as he's been here and not said anything 🙁

No shortage of clocked ex PCP motors about, all taken on a low milage deal and wound back before return. and the trade don't care as they are worth more with less miles.

24000 miles equates to 39000 kilometres.....I'm guessing someone has accidentally changed the settings on maxidot display....mystery solved!

If you look at the picture on Evans Halshaws website of the dashboard it says Kilometres.....

Who is going to let them know that they have been libelled?

Screenshot 2020-02-18 at 07.02.21.png

Looks like someone has accidentally reported km as miles, no big issue and certainly nothing for Trading Standards to worry about.  Any retraction from @JED?

He's a little busy at the moment wading through the slander accusations from The Car Store's solicitor 😂

It isn't possible for the odometer to be changed from miles to kilometers without the use of VCDS or OBDeleven etc.

Presumably this car has spent time overseas (armed forces) or is an import (Cyprus for example)?
