Transport Blocks Again

Featured Replies

I purchased my Superb III SE L Exec second hand a few weeks ago. It was 11 months old with around 11,200 miles on it then - I've added almost 1000 since. Very happy with the drive and ride and everything except for occasionally when I couldn't avoid the odd bad pothole - there would be a really loud bang and shudder through the whole car.

I read here about transport blocks but the ride was generally good. I didn't have any issues going over speedbumps at all. And this was an SE L Exec - not a sporty model (some here have suggested the transport blocks are only fitted on models with lower suspension or a low front spoiler).

Well, there's nothing else to do here with lockdown and all so I thought I would take a look. And guess what I found  ! A transport block on the driver side only. I double checked the passenger side but there was definitely nothing there.

So who would have thought. 12,000 miles with a transport block fitted and an excellent ride except for the occasional pothole.

If you experience loud bangs a teeth-rattling shudder when you go over a pothole - have a look for transport blocks.

How much did you pay for this extra? 😉

Thanks AG Falco

I had exactly same thing happened on my sportline that i bought in 2018. Resulted in both front wheels buckled which were replaced after i kicked off...this was only after 120miles driving...if i was you i would get it checked (alignment, wheels for buckles, suspension etc)
