Servicing question

Featured Replies

Recently come into the possession of a 1.6 tdi dsg on a 64 plate.  Very happy with it so far.  Looking at the skoda service history it seems that the car has only ever had 2 oil changes during its 128k miles.  It is on the flexible service setup and has always been sent to skoda to have anything done.  Is this normal for a car to have so little oil changes?

Welcome to the forum.

That is a good Service History, and record of what was done, but using confusing terms.

Fixed Servicing intervals are 9,400 miles / 372 days what ever comes first,

on Variable Servicing 18,000-20,000 miles / 24 months, what ever comes first.

There can be changes happening with the same owner, or cars being sold used etc.

An 'Inspection Service' should include a Oil and Filter Service.

There were also Oil & Filter Services which started being call 'Interim Services.

Some cars show a 'Inspection Service' due.   Really the servicing was Minor and Major,  or Interim & Major.

Confused!

That is how Skoda / VW like it.

Below,

As was over a year ago.

Bottom,

Changed now to the 'Fixed Menu choices'   You pay for the Service and extra for parts over and above.

Oil & Inspection Service,  and then the 'Extended Scope' that is offered. so like a 'Major Service'..

Given I certainly will not be doing 18k or more I think I will have it change to a fixed service next time; I take it the car will tell me when it is due.

Go through the Maxidot menu and you should find Service, and then the count down in days / miles.

If the last tech servicing set it correctly, or reset it will tell you.
