18" Braga wheels - What is the silver colour code please

Featured Replies

Hi,

Doing a deep clean of tha Karoq today (with 18" Braga wheels) and noticed a little scratch.  Does anyone know the correct Silver colour code please so I can get a touch-up kit? For now I have popped a bit of clearcoat on it to make sure it doesn't get worse.

Thanks all,

Paul

According to what I can see it is "Brushed Silver" if that is any help rather than "Silver" apparently anyway according to the Skoda brochure:-

Also,  Are these Diamond cut wheels?  they look like it in the picture above but in real life they don't.

Hope not as I had some of those on the last car and got the dreaded wheel-worm.

Anyways,  If they are then for info the scratch is on the interior and not the face (i.e. not on the diamond cur surface if it is indeed diamond cut.

Cheers,

Paul

The Braga wheels are indeed diamond cut or polished, the faces of the spokes have no paint, just lacquer.

Brace yourself for the whiteworm, it usually hits just as the 3 year warranty expires, by which point Skoda will either claim they've never had complaints before, or that it's a direct result of a stone chip.

The paint code is on the rear of one of the spokes, it is a three-digit extension to the alloy wheel part number...

In this example "silver/8Z8".

The part number for the alloy wheel is 5E0601025B, the colour or paint code is 8Z8...

A word of warning, the part numbers are cast into the alloy for all different colour configurations possible for that style of wheel so be sure to find the spoke with the silver paint code and not the anthracite or other versions. For example this wheel is available from the factory in three different colours.

In addition to the Silber (silver) there is Schwarz (black) and Weiss (white), all with unique three digit paint codes...

I was going to suggest you try and find a picture of the back of an all-silver Braga online or you might find yourself crawling under the car with a torch! However the part number you've highlighted in your opening post already includes the paint code, 8Z8, so you have it already...

The problem you'll have is Skoda don't sell it, and despite the other VAG brands also using the same paint codes, none of them sell it either.

There are options out there if you Google it, but the consensus is that regular 'Diamond Silver' touch-up pens are close enough for most people...

Hi Silver1011.

Wow.  thanks for all of that detail.

In light of what you said I will stick to the "Diamond Silver" touch up pen.  Is that the one in the picture?  or..  should I search for "Diamond Silver alloy wheel paint".  Going to a local shop next week that sells this kind of thing.

Shame about the news of the Diamond Cut.  I will be keeping a very close eye on them for sure and the first sign of wheel worm and I will be in the faces of the Skoda Service Department demanding a warranty replacement.  I hear if you have the issue and are persistent then they give in eventually.  My old VW had it something terrible but I did use the old formulation of WonderWheels (for my sins and because I knew no better).  I suspect that made it a whole lot worse at the time. I also used a pencil rotating jet to clean them in the past and now know this to be far too aggressive.  I don't do that either now - Just a regular jet, mitt and then a polish with a good polish.  This time round I will be a lot more careful and a lot more vigilant too.

I have a Kodiaq but have used this paint on my previous Octavia and Superb and the colour match has been really close.

The E-TEC product is readily available online, but I'm sure most 'silver' alloy wheel paint will be similar.

The Technik Grey is also a great match for the two-tone alloys on my Mercedes and the Crater's on my Kodiaq...

To keep on top of the white-worm on the leading edge of the spokes I use the clear lacquer (clearcoat) from the genuine Skoda touch-up pen to stop the water getting under the lacquer...

E-tech is now in my basket and will be ordered in the next week.  Thanks for all the advice.

The wife has a Fabia with the white body and black roof/wheels (i.e. the colour edition).  Is the Technic Grey the right colour for those by any chance?  or....  is the black paint in the touch-up kit for the roof the right colour?  Might as well get her a touch-up stick so she can have it to hand when needed.  (well it will be me that does the touching up of course but you know what I mean) 🙂

Can I ask, did you get the touch-up paint/clear lacquer from your Skoda dealer? Presumably the paint in the pack is matched to the bodywork colour of the car.

Thanks

I find it easier to order online. There are plenty of outlets selling genuine Skoda touch-up pens out there.

My Kodiaq is Black Magic, so the touch-up kit is tailored to my exact paint code. There are two pens in each kit, one for the base colour, the other is a clear coat to apply over the top (which I rarely use to be honest).

See here for lots of choice (if not quite all possible paint codes)...

Prices across the net seem to vary from £15-£20 delivered.

Thanks for checking that for me. I looked for my car - which was described as 'Petrol Blue' when I bought it. That colour isn't listed ........... the nearest I can get is 'Petorl (sic) Green'. Is this another case of being Simply Clever?

This Skoda dealer has Petrol Blue in stock..........

Thank you for the tip-off. My most pressing need is to do something about a scuffed wheel; I've ordered silver (as described above) and have just discovered a tube of lacquer in a pack for my previous car (Vauxhall) - which I think should be OK. I'll delay ordering the Petrol Blue until I need it for the bodywork .............. which I hope won't be too soon!

  • 1 month later...

I have a 2020 Sportline Karoq and have found a touch up kit but there are two variants of the HA7 paint is seems

Anthracite & Anthracite Sparkle can anyone tell me the correct variant for my wheels ?

What makes you think there are two shades? I'd imagine if they were different they'd have different paint codes...

This is why I ask.

All of Skoda alloy wheels painted in HA7 are described in Skoda's literature as being 'metallic', I'd therefore be inclined to go for the "sparkle" finish...
