Delivery Delays

I received my superb sel, 2.00tdi last week. It was 11months since being ordered.

car is great, DSG has took a bit of getting used to.

I was expecting the retractable towbar like my last superb, it came with a removable, not the end of the world.

It seems to me that if you ordered it with the retractable towbar and you got a detachable one you should be entitled to some compensation.

The factory fitted towbar also comes with an uprated cooling system, greater capacity battery etc.

Have these been fitted or did the dealer just fit a removable towbar and electrics?

My factory fitted towbar is a retractable one.

  • Mine that was ordered on 5 February has finally arrived. It was built in March but since then has been waiting for a part. I took delivery of it yesterday....Hooray!

  • i'd be more concerned that VAG / skoda might start sourcing inferior chips from china.  they'll be desperate to get cars moving to free up space and bring in the £££, so maybe  likely to buy from

Just been on to the dealer again , 3 weeks ago the car was built and on a train to the docks, apparently it’s still there , how long does it take to get onto a cargo ship and cross the sea for crying out loud.   This is becoming irritating now.

Mine was stuck in Emden for 3 weeks.

Wonder if it’s on Google earth , the car , not the docks probably the nearest I’ll ever get to it at this rate.

yes, 2 weeks did seem a bit long to have to wait for a pdi,  i remember her saying before that  it's normally about  3 days for a car to get pdi,  however she did get  back to me and we have arranged pick up for end of next week,

and to be fair to her, if she was under pressure because of too many cars waiting for pdi's  or whatever, she did'nt need to tell me my car had arrived with them, as i'd never have known.

i've never pushed them for any info about when i would get my car, but they have always kept me informed .

Was it 'Sarah' you were dealing with matey, I found her most pleasant and helpful unlike the guy that took my order?

Collect my car Monday at long last , could have had it this week but the salesman was on holiday and asked me if I would delay delivery so he could hand it over rather than one of his colleagues , I don’t suppose another week in top of the 8 months I’ve waited makes much odds.

yea it was, i cant fault her or the garage ,  she always kept me informed and that was without me chasing things up,  and i got the car sooner than expected at a great price.

sarah did say to me  that lee one of the sales team had left,  i dealt with him , he was ok, i got the impression he was under pressure,  the way of the world nowadays i suppose,

maybe that's why he left

Just been told by a salesman at a main Dealer that Skoda are no longer accepting new iV or EV orders 🙁  Anyone else heard this?

What’s the point of them then? I suppose it’s something to do with the Ukrainian issue because VW group is over committed/over reliant in the region.

Riiight, so I've got an email from the dealer that my Superb L&K 280 TSI hatch with most options is postponed until next year with provisional build week 6, 2023. Had a provisional build date in May, 2022 before.

Ordered September 14th 2021. Thinking of cancelling my order...

Not good for you but it does indicate that the 280 will still be in production 2023............

ooof that's pretty bad.  This might be saying the obvious, but if you're going to order something else, even from another manufacturer, might check around and see what their delivery schedules are like before you cancel.  Bet Skoda aren't the only one having yet more trouble.

@Berisford

Unless VW Group decide they will not be produced and so Skoda stop building them for the UK, or just Skoda UK decide not to import them if the need is to get Average Co2 figures even lower in the UK for the VW group.

There will be an issue if the Mild Hybrids, PHEV's and BEV's are not getting First Registered in the UK in enough or any numbers in 2022.

Nah, I am not placing another factory order. If I cancelled, I would buy whatever I manage to find in stock. Thing is, I need a bigger car by year's end.

Ordered mine in July 2021 finally collected it Monday.  Worth the wait I feel, even if it was a complete pain.  I was told it’s now a 30 week leadtime.

Likewise re the pain.... glad you got it in the end.  Had mine for about 3 weeks now, and after 9 months wait, feels good.

Not good, and just a different provisional date months later

I suspect giving a build date 18 months after the order (and allowing for delivery will be over 18 months) is a strong hint that they would rather you cancelled it and the build slot is reassigned to someone paying a new price.

There is also risk, your new provisional date could get pushed back further.

This is exactly what I am thinking. I am wondering, what if I cancelled the order and re-ordered again with 15% price extra. I have a feeling, I wouldn't need to wait until next year to get my car.

Not that I am going to do that, I'd rather choose another manufacturer as I find such practise extremely unfair and disrespectful.

I have already decided to wait a year or two to change the car.

Which manufacturer gets my business will depend on who has stock, I am not going to join this factory order delivery lottery.  I was much happier 25 years ago when you walked into a showroom and chose what they had, and they would register it and you picked it up 2 days later.  Not pre-reg just a good price on brand new.   There is lot of satisfaction about being able to see a sold sign put up as you agree a deal.

So whoever wants my family’s business needs to get some stock that I can collect, and enjoy, not mythical unbuilt vehicles that will just cause frustration.

How about reordering (knowing you can cancel it) just to find out?

If I reordered, I would have to sign an agreement. If the car is delivered in time, I'd have to buy the car or else it would be agreement violation. And I am not willing to pay them extra.

Now they failed to deliver the car in agreed 6 months, so I am free to cancel.

Beginning to wonder if I should put my order in for the next one I want as it’s 4 years away judging by the way things are it might just arrive by then.

Today I officially cancelled the order and got the deposit back. Not gonna drive Skoda after all.

It's one fine forum this. I've spent 7 months here chatting and reading delays-related threads. It made waiting easier. 😄
