What kWh does an Enyaq charging on AC 43 kW chargers get, & why use one when there are plenty 22 kW chargers available?

Featured Replies

Maybe this is a member here's car.   It showed as getting 11 kW on the charger.

This is not the first Enyaq i have seen using Rapid chargers to park on for a couple of hours or more when they could easily be on 22kW chargers.

(Assuming they can be bothered to have their type 2 cable with them and use it.)

The Audi e-Tron is also on the AC and had been for a few hours.

Luckily the Enyaq was not slowing the charging speed for me on the 50kW CCS but sometimes the charge speed can be slowed as at a charger i used a few days ago where a Jag had been 9 1/2 hours on the AC 43 kW and it was the only CCS charger available to me.

There are drivers with older Renault Zoe's that can charge using these 43 kW AC charge heads but when they are occupied like this for hours would need to go on the 22 kW or 7 kW ones.

(Last time i was there only 1 of the Rapids out of the 4 was working and the White Ford Mach-e had been on the 43 kW AC for many hours.)

I wish it was me, but it’s not😁

The average ev driving person, including me doesn’t know (or care) what every different car can and can’t charge on.

At this Charging Hub and other similar ones that are still free to charge it is happening because using Rapid Chargers is costing them nothing rather than using just fast ones and the rapids do not have a £1 a minute overstay charge after 45 or 70 minutes as it is in some Council Areas in Scotland.

The Slow / Fast chargers allow a lot longer time on the chargers at a lower cost when you do have to pay.

Lots of EV driving people are like ICE driving people, they know little about the vehicle they drive and could not care less as long as they get about and are doing their own thing.  Many will not check tyre pressures unless there is a warning, or top up screen wash or check anything between services or MOT's.

It is going to be an issue really as EV ownership increases and there is not the best of charging infrastucture that people do not bother to find out or care about not making things more awkward for others when a little consideration for others can make a big difference.

More chargers for Perth's Park & Ride which is still free to charge at and abused by EV's or Hybrids that park for hours on the Rapids not of all which work all the time.

  • 2 weeks later...

on the new rapid chargers at Ingliston park and ride in  Edinburgh (BP units) if you use the AC charge it prevents anyone using the DC charge. So there are 6 x rapid chargers and 20 x 22kW chargers. Usually there are 6 cars plugged in on the rapids for hours on end while the owners have gone into town on the tram.  So there are 20 fast chargers available but rather than using those these selfsh sods block the 6 rapid chargers. Personally I'd have them clamped or towed.

The driver of the white Mach-e that parks on the 43 kW AC at Stirling also parks up at the Rapids @ Ingilston Park & Ride for hours.

............................

In Angus even though the Council Car Park charges are suspended there are Parking Wardens putting tickets on EV's / Hybrids at chargers charging but if the CPS chargers have cut out early because of faults which is common they are putting tickers on the cars and the drivers /keepers are not getting these overturned at appeal.   The notices do say you can only park in the bays if charging but then they were and still would be if the charger never cut them off and the warden sees a Green Light for Available rather than a Blue, or even a Red light so put a ticket on the vehicle.
