Racingline Remap

Recommended Posts

Evening All,

I upgraded my car recently to my octavia VRS petrol and absolutely love it!

So i have been window shopping and looking to have my car remapped.

I'd prefer to stay away from the companies who tune all cars and go someone specific to Skoda, and Racingline have been bought up.

Has anyone experienced Racingline remap at all? I am based Telford if anyone has any other good recommendations.

Thank you

Yep have used racingline in the past with awesome reliable results. Over 100k miles in each vehicle. Both diesel though. Also I have an up gti which will soon be done by them after driving one of their development ones 😉

This is reassuring. Knowing you have had multiple vehicles with good mileage behind them gives me a little more confidence 😀

The Up GTI looks like it's good fun to drive?

I'm pretty sure the guy behind the racingline software side is the guy who used to run shark performance, and they always had massive praise on here.

When my warranty is up I think I'll be going the racingline route, they are the only ones at the minute who are showing gpf specific maps for the newer stuff on there site.

Yep I'm pretty sure Ben from Shark is now at Racing line.  We had our mkii Octavia 4x4 sorted by Shark and had no issues over about 80k miles

Yes Ben is one of the software directors at shark and is both my superb and octavia prior to that. One manual 120k before I sold it and 1 dsg 115k befor I sold it. Never and issues.

the up is a cracking car to drive and with a map 150bhp lol

+1 to these.

Ben initially did my Shark Remap remotely via AW Tuning in Sidcup back in 2018, before moving to Racingline. I had to take the car there to get an intermittent fault light sorted out (teething issue with the particular ECU coding I had), and both him & the wider RL team were brilliant at aftercare 👍  Car has been flawless since then, 328bhp and beautiful torque curve 😀

I had my previous car, a 2011 MK2 FL Octavia VRS TSI,  remapped by Shark, now known as Racingline. I was very pleased with it and it gave me no problems up to when I traded it in at 104k miles. My present car as you can see details of at the bottom of this post, has got a Racingline map on and I am extremely pleased with it. This car was mapped on a rolling road by a VW specialist in Swindon. I am almost certain like me though, after the remap you will need to spend on an uprated clutch to handle the increase in engine torque. If you do spend out on an uprated clutch, have them replace the rear engine oil seal at the same time, as they are a weak point on the VW engine. I sadly had the gearbox input shaft oil seal go shortly after the new Helix clutch and DMF was fitted. It ruined the new DMF and clutch so had to spend out for all the new parts to be replaced again. Loads of money!! So I would have them replace that gearbox oil seal as well, seeing as though they have the gearbox out doing the clutch anyway.

Thank you all for the comments.

It looks like they are well respected with good aftersales, and knowing that a few of you have run cars with these remaps on for extensive periods, fault free, is also comforting 😀

A question please.

I am looking to book in for my diesel VRS to get the RacingLine treatment but have been told that any other coding can possibly affect the tune.

Has anyone experienced any issues of this kind?

Ive changed a few options in the past which i would like to keep.

Thanks in advance

I don't see how. . The tune would be on the ecu and the coding will be on a convenience unit in the car.

I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure they shouldn't interfere with each other.

Any coding done will not be overwritten by a remap. My car is mapped and all the coding is fine.

Racingline will also be my map of choice when my extended warranty expires (vRS TDI).

They included remaps in the last Black Friday sale although the price varied up to £50 between installers depending on how much of the sale they pass on/charge for labour.

I’d say you’re roughly 1 hour 30 mins from Awesome GTI who offered this at Racinglines sale price over this period.

Other companies closer to you are probably available, worth a look on their website for retailers but Awesome have a good rep from what I gather.

My 2017 VRs 230 TSi was done by Awesome GTi on Racingline software. Was there for 3  hours I think! So they don't just flash it at Awesome. All good so far apart from needing a new clutch 4 months later.

  • 7 months later...

I thought i would post back with an update on this.

So i went ahead with stage 1 OEM+ in June through AP Automotive. So 6 months in and i'm really pleased with how the car has been performing.

I would have no hesitation in recommending the OEM+ to fellow members. A couple of friends have gone the same route based on my experience and all are equally impressed.

Thank you all who helped with your experiences and putting my mind at ease as there are so many companies out there, its hard to choose the right one!
