Looks chinese...

A concept of a 7 seat EV so many might have to sign up as Skoda / VW are not going to launch any new models of Euro 7 ICE vehicles are they between 2023 and 2030 are they.

The inside reminds me of the science fiction style used in 1960s and 1970s, somewhere between Thunderbirds and Blake’s 7

Skoda produced some good value cars from 1990s until few years ago.
Can’t see me rushing out to buy something that resembles a stretched Austin Allegro estate complete with quartic steering wheel

Not a bad design to my eye. Won’t be buying one though. Still don’t get the SUV love. I wonder if they put the batteries and running gear into something that didn’t have all the aerodynamic properties of a breeze block, they could hit over 400 miles as a range? I’d sign up for that.

The Enyaq Coupe has a significantly lower drag coefficient than your Mk3 Octavia, and it's also lower than the Mk4 Octavia.

The problem is that the longer range you want, the more battery you need. Which adds weight, which means you need more battery...

Not necessarily...   Manufacturers seem obsessed with fitting more powerful motors with excessive performance to the models that have larger batteries.  If they simply fitted the bigger batteries to the models with the less powerful motors you'd get more range

319 miles for the Enyaq 80x SportLine Plus 80x 339 for the 'regular' 80 is only about 15% or so. And it has 30% more power, and about 5% more weight.

I'd suggest it's the weight of the extra motors, rather than the power, that reduces the range. Also, driving style... in theory, if you had two identical cars with different output motors, but they weighed the same, then you could get the same range from both. It's when you start using the extra power that you reduce the range.

I'll bet it has a higher frontal area though.

I’m really struggling to see your point… would you care to explain why that matters if the overall aerodynamics of the car are far better?

If you don’t know why a teardrop / aerofoil (i.e. large frontal area and pointy back) is better, then maybe read up on the subject.

Perhaps you should do so yourself first? A teardrop or aerofoil at a wrong angle of attack is very draggy, and the actual drag of a vehicle is established by multiplying its cd by its frontal area.

Looks like a 7 seater that can not carry much belongings for 7 people even if only 4 are full size people / possibly adults and the other 3 are small.

What matters for drag is CdA i.e. Cd multiplied by effective frontal area - so a low profile car and an SUV might both have the same Cd but the SUV will almost certainly have a larger effective frontal area and hence less range for the same battery capacity.

80 kWh worth of a charge at some public chargers is already @ £55 or more.

We will see in 3 or 4 years time what that will be in the UK.

As it is in the UK it might be double that next year.

If this Skoda was to get 4 miles for a kWh that would be 320 miles from 80 kWh.

Here he is saying 600 km / 373 miles.

if it has a usable 89 kWh battery that is 4.2 miles per kWh it can get.    We will see.

Maybe time for more efficient EV's and not ones taking up road space when on the move or parked at the road side.

Charge them a Road Tax for the amount of seats a car has that are unoccupied.

......................

Skoda would do well to tell those that have waited over 1 year for their new cars just when they might actually get them and they can get them with the standard or optional equipment they expected to get when ordering them.

Getting more deliveries of the New Fabia Mk4 before actually bringing out an EV replacement would be Simply Clever.

From £17,800 for a All New 4th Generation Fabia in the UK.

Good time to point out that you can get 3 Fabias or 2 Karoqs for the price of one Enyaq?

& a Basic New Fabia in the UK is really pretty basic which is nice, just a pity they could not be £5,000 cheaper than they are now.

There's a new ICE Kodiaq coming:

"During the transition phase to e-mobility, the brand is strengthening its product portfolio of highly efficient combustion engines and will be unveiling the new-generation SUPERB and KODIAQ in the second half of next year. A refreshed OCTAVIA will also follow in 2024"

?

Any word yet on what these highly efficient combustion engines VW Group have for big MY24 Skodas?

They’ve found a load of unused 1.9TDI PD 130s in basement storage. Gonna whack those in.
