Time for an Auto specialist that does DQ200's.

Well not the 'Overheating' symbol, and your DSG if still the original is too young for the 'Flashing Spanner'.  Later 2012-2013 common the cars that never got 34F7' or '34H5'.

Sadly likely the MCU.

?

Did you car get '34F7' and the oil change and software update since 2014?

You have done quite well getting to 2012 if this is the first the DSG has needed fixed.    Maybe not a replacement MCU, it can get refurbed.

How are the clutches though?

Someone in the know will be along.

DQ200 2013-2015 was more the pressure issue hence 34H5 started in 2017, software update.

See his other vids on DQ200's

OT with the OP's problem.

For @nta16 even @J.R.

This was the issue that meant a World Wide Recall to change the oil on 2009-2012 DQ200's.   Change oil synthetic to mineral and a software update.

Only a Service Campaign in Europe started 2 years after the World Wide recall.

The Service Campaign in New Zealand was only needed on a few hundred cars so all got a new MCU.   In China VW put a 100,000 mile / 10 year warranty on the DQ200.

Defo had that 34F7 done through Skoda dealership and car was updated, then had Engine oil burning fixes @skoda then car was remapped 5 years ago, Been running great really just never seen the gears flashing before then it comes & goes, only place I can go is Tuning shop who will have seen this on VAG DSG cars no doubt

These seems to be what started it on mine I was on an uphill section & changed to paddles which ive not done for a long time. Though the flashing issue is happening randomly as I haven't used paddles since, hopefully it's a minor issue... The only major items not to have gone on this car is the DSG at 61k miles, and the mechatronics unit so I'm.on borrowed time that's for sure. Car is nearly 13 years old now, how it's got this far is a miracle

My Dsg failed around the same mileage that’s why I did a dq200 to dq250 swap which could be worth looking into if the gearbox fails

Doubt I can afford something that big of a job .. it's booked in for a scan tomoz.. interestingly the flashing comes on dead on 10min 'travel time' mark

Is that no mater which route you drive in that 10 mins if there are choices?

What happens then at the 10 minutes, different speed limit or something else.      12 year old DQ200 dsg.  Sh!t happens.

Re 10 minutes,

Coincidentally is that just about when the indicated oil temp gets to 90*oC or so.   Not related.

Just got past 10mins 30-40mph no flashing then I used the tiptronic drop down a gear then back up & flashing started again. If turn car back on again the flashing is gone (temporarily again), gear changes all smooth with no juddering.  Oil about 70c after 10mins (in this cold weather)

  • 1 month later...

So after weeks of flashing D and no issue the car suddenly this week was losing gears going Into D with no number so I got it towed to garage over weekend and then when taken off the loader would not move forwards at all only backwards,  don't know whether it's the mechatronics or the actual clutch plates or DSG, gonna be something major that's for sure...
