It is just one like here on photo, about 6 liters?

@asus

?

Do you know what is involved?

Have you got what you require to do it?

Is the car near 80,000 miles, and are you considering doing the filter?

Which there is even if VW do not show it requiring doing.

EDIT.

Last night in the Engine oil post you said the car has done 31,000 miles.

*Skoda / VW have the Service interval / recommendation, guidelines, schedule @ 80,000 miles, i would have it done sooner, but by a VW Approved Repairer where they take the hit if they mess up the job.

Quite likely they will if you use some of the Edinburgh Main Dealers.

If you have a warranty now with the car you bought i would leave it well alone,

and if you have no warranty i would buy one that covers the DQ381.

Wow, that is A LOT of oil for a gearbox. More than what goes in my engine!

Not cheap.

I will be interested to know how much Main Dealers are going to charge for DQ381 oil & filter changes, and will they do the filters.

As the 2 videos show they have the oil to put in but then the extra comes out.

That is in the box and the MCU.

As it is the DQ200 has 2 oils, in the box and then in the MCU and much less, but then it is a smaller box and clutches are dry.

Not a chance they will touch the filter... ever.

There is not even a listed torque setting for the filter housing meaning its not even a main dealer authorised job!

Crazy to think...

50 Nm for the filter housing, but it's hard to find in the documents I will grant you!

You got a copy or screenshot of that? Cause I spent a while looking and couldn’t come up with anything at all

@asus That must be a main Dealership quote for them doing it & not actually Skoda.

Sounds like a bargain compared to the £220 or so it was for doing DQ250's.

I would have whoever quoted £260 double check that is them doing a DQ381, and will the Oil filter get replaced or just the oil.

eg

Inverness & 2023.

Sunday sermon for the congregation 😆

  • Starting with my folder structure, I keep things in nice simple way...

SSP + ErWin\Skoda\Superb III (2016) [3V,3V3,3V5] - so it makes it quick to drill down into the correct section

  • Then using one of @toot's often posted pictures of the gearbox codes (DQ381 = 0GC) allows us to find the document quickly

  • I looked at the index page(s) to find the relevant section, in this instance page 4

  • Thankfully, you can click as you know on this to be hyperlinked to Page 454

If you then scroll down the pages, you end up on Page 456, which then links you to the Tightening torques and summary page

You can then click on the red hyperlink to take you to Page 443

  • As Page 443 is not big enough to hold the picture, they put it on Page 444

You could of course use search in PDF for "Oil Filter" and then maybe look at 50+ pages, but sometimes the index comes up trumps.

It's easily missed when you are under the cosh of time and pressure at work.

This is the OE oil for DQ381 and is half the price

OE implies it’s the exact same as the genuine oil, if so, is there any proof of that?

Do you mean OEM as in it’s the same manufacturer as the genuine oil?

The trouble at times can be that while a company does have the factory supply contract for one of their product ranges, it does not follow that other or all their product ranges are also factory supplies.

Fuchs do tend to win/hold the supply contract for engine oils to VW Group factories, but do they also have the contract for supplying DSG fluids?  The last line in the image shown above reads "Engine Oils".

VW UK have been using Fuchs as the supplier to TPS since 2017.  So the Producer of Quantum.  They does not have Fuchs being the Factory supplier of VW,s recommended oil.  Not that Castrol was or is anything special.    As to the oil specs for the DSG,s I know nothing.     But with a DQ381 I would be using absolutely only the factory recommendations until VW get on an accept possible issues, and if they have oil service schedule at 80,000 miles and no filter change put 8 year 80,000 warranties on them.
