Hi, Can anyone say whether the oil that Kwik Fit offers is good for Octavia II 1.6 Petrol, ie: they offer:

Titan Super F 5W30  ( I presume it's TITAN Supersyn F 5W30)

5W30 sounds ok as per manual, but that particular Fuchs oil isn't listed anywhere as approved by VW.

Thanks for any advice.

If the oil you are talking about is as per the following link then it isn't approved:

http://www.fuchslubricants.com/titan-supersyn-f-sae-5w-30

The full list of approved oils and which oils are needed for which engine / servicing regime are in the following post:

http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/320854-octavia-mk2-engines-dpfs-cambelts-oils-brakes-and-servicing-info/

Note that you can use longlife oil for fixed interval servicing if you want.

Thanks to all who replied to my question.

As I suspected it's mainly for Fords and according to the link

from Owl it's VW50200 standard not VW 50400

even though it's 5W30 how strange ...

Thanks again

FYI, there is no issue using VW504.00 for fixed interval servicing. VW502.00 meets the requirements for fixed interval servicing only whilst VW504.00 meets the requirements for both fixed and variable interval servicing on petrol engines.

I wouldn't substitute 507.00 for those engines that have a specific need for 506.01.  V10 Toureg & T5 Transporter spring to mind.  It's just asking for trouble.

I did say on petrol engines in my post above :)

I agree with what you are saying though with regards longlife requirements on some vw diesels. The reason I don't mention it in my post on oils, servicing etc is that I was only talking about requirements for octavias and the octavia has never been fitted with any of the affected engines.

VW 507.00 oil

"The oils in this section meet the VW 507.00 specification. These oils are suitable for almost all VAG diesel engines from 2000 onwards with extended service intervals, unitary injector pumps and also Pumpe-Düse ("PD") engines.

Excludes V10, R5 engines and VW Commercial vehicles without fitted DPF (diesel particulate filters) – these must use a 506 01 specification oil."

Never knew this!

I wasn't referring to your post.

referring to this:

VW 507 00 covers the following VW-specifications for diesel-engine cars:

VW 505 00

VW 505 01

VW 506 00

VW 506 01

It's 90% right but there's just those few "gotchas"

Can anyone tell me if "fuchs titan gt1 pro flex 5/30 xtl" is good enough for my fabia vrs?

It's 502.00 / 505.00 / 505.01  so it's at the minimum.

TITAN GT1 PRO C-3 SAE 5W-30  would be a better choice (IMO)
