Staggered tires Xtreme 19"

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Just picked up my 2019 Octavia vRS estate and noticed that the 19" Xtreme wheels had staggerd tires and that the dealer put the wider tires at the front. 235/35R19 and the narrower 225/35R19 at the rear. What are the oem tire widths and can it be right that the wider tires should be at the front?

Thanks!

Welcome.

It was right with Audi RS3's where it was an option you could get from Audi.

As it is with your car it is what it is. Put them to the rear if you want.

Not just staggered as in wider are they, they are a different circumference / total diameter.

Told them to switch the wheels as I had about 650km to drive home and it worked out just fine.

seems strange to have it like that and to make it more strange the old owner put different makes on the weels, 225s are pirellis and the 235s are Goodyear.

The OEM size tyre on the xtremes is 225/35. . . But most people switch up to 235/25 for a bit better alloy protection.

Isn't the difference in total diameter tripping the tyre pressure warning all the time? As they work off the abs sensors and the wheels will be spinning different speeds.

You set the TPMS to the pressure or actual circumference of the tyres.  They do not have to be the same front and rear.

You can fit the slightly mis sized spare and reset the TPMS and then not get a warning.

The 19" X-TREM rims are only 7.5J wide.

According to ETRTO, 235/35R19 needs at least an 8J rim.

ETRTO approved rim widths

225/40R19 7.5-8.0-9.0
225/35R19 7.5-8.0-9.0

235/40R19 8.0-8.5-9.5
235/35R19 8.0-8.5-9.5

X-TREM 7.5Jx19 ET51 5/112 57.1 alloy rims

Alot seem to run 235 on 19s though, and they don't look overly bulbous or suffer any issues.

I suspect the previous owner had 235 all round and maybe the fronts needed replacing but put OEM sizes back on.
