Digital Dipstick

Featured Replies

Hi folks just an heads up, I’m in the second week of ownership of a new Kodiaq iV, I went to check the oil level only to find there is no dipstick, the manual shows where it should be but it wasn’t there only a blanking plug covering the tube, I contacted the dealership who informed me that there is no physical dipstick as it is now digital, after searching the infotainment I found it in a sub menu, don’t know how many new Skodas this applies to, wouldn’t you think the manual would be kept up to date, it makes me wonder what else is not adequately covered in the paper manual.

Thanks for that.

What does your Service Indicator show for Oil Service, is it a Fixed Oil & Filter regime, was it @ 9,400 miles / 372 days when you got the car,

& is there an Inspection Service showing as well, and is that at 2 years?

In conversation with the dealership I can pick either a one year interval or two year interval for my service after discussing my relatively low annual mileage less than 8000, as far as I am aware no other inspection or oil change or filter

@Jimbobby12  Is it a PHEV?

Fixed Regime Oil & Filter changes, or it was with the 1.4 TSI.

Yes its a PHEV, exact model is Kodiaq Estate 2024 1.5 TSI iV 204 SE 5DR DSG (petrol)

@Jimbobby12 Best you get the answer from the Master Tech if it is required to be on a Fixed Oil & Filter change regime.

Servicing might well be done variable / flexible, @ 24 months / 18,000-20,000 miles but not the Oil Changes.

People have no way of knowing how often the engine fires up,

or is there now something to show the miles done using petrol or do you just have to go by how often it gets filled up?

My information is the car monitors how the car is driven, I’m assuming either on petrol or electric and advises when any sort of maintenance is required, I will check about the oil though with the dealership, out of interest my last car was a Superb iV PHEV I visited the petrol station about 4 times a year so I’m guessing around 2000miles at the most  were covered on petrol, the Superb was only giving me a range of just over 30 miles on electric in summer and considerably less in winter, the Kodiaq from all revues should give me around 70 miles on electric and up to now that seems to stack up on what I am finding at the moment, so I expect to be using much less petrol than I did in the Superb

The infotainment tells me how many miles I should get out of what’s in the tank, it then counts down every time i drive on petrol, I’m not sure at this point if it does a lifetime count if you know what i mean, I picked it up 10 days ago and the dealership filled it up, it was showing 525 miles range on petrol and I’ve been doing a fair bit of running about all on electric, the petrol range is still showing 525 miles

VW are still showing the same.

Read the Warranty T&C,s an then get in writing if the Servicing need not be by the Manufacturers Recommendation, Guidelines, Schedule or Specification.

It is fixed Oil & Filter changes.   VW have said 9,300 miles in the past and 12 months and Skoda 9,400, or the usual, they have no idea so say 10,000 miles.

DQ400-e DSG service every 40,000 miles or sooner.

I guess I can wait for one year or 9000 miles to elapse whichever comes sooner and see what the car tells me as regards oil change and or service, and in the meantime I could contact Skoda support for their take on it

@Jimbobby12  Is you cars Service Indicator not showing now when the first service is due.  Miles & days?

If this crowd deal with your enquiry it will be interesting in the answer they come back with if they refer to a Technical Department (call a friend) or advise you ask at a Dealership.

Others will need to know the 'Official advise' on 1.5 TSI PHEV,s.

This is all I’m seeing on the service menu.

Strange.

All others leave the factory set on Variable / Flexible servicing but the PHEV should be on Fixed Oil Changes.

I wonder if it was reset at the PDI when changed from 'In transit' mode.
