Rattle from back seat area on vRS

Featured Replies

Hello guys, i know a few of us have the same problem with the rattle coming from the back ( seatbelt holder) or something like that....... anyway after being a passenger in my own car yesterday i figured enough is enough and want to fix the damn thing!

Has anyone fixed the problem? if so how?

Thanks:cool:

its got me beat...I WAS a back seat passenger in my own car on Friday..and it didnt bloody rattle!..maybe it was the pressure of my frame in the seat itself stopping the rattle...it is definitley from the rear passenger side only..very strange!

I also had a very annoying rattle from my back passenger side seat, it to went when you sat on that side in the back.

I tryed it with the side bolsters removed and even removed the seat base but to no avail, then one day i was sat in the back on the drivers side and happened to put my arm on top of the rear head rest on the passenger side and the rattle stopped.

This was indeed where the rattle had been coming from, so with a little silicone grease on the non exposed part of the supports that loud annoying rattle is no more.

I hope this might help?:)

I reported this to my Skoda dealer and they were aware of the rattle coming from the rear seats. Apparently there are waiting for some new parts to completely fix this.

Another rattle comes from the inside the jumbo box (arm rest) if you have a CD case or something similar in there. You can even feel it vibrate whilst the car is moving and see it rattle against the sides of the jumbo box.

Any idea of where exactly and what the new part is (is it the catch mechanism)?, I've mentioned it to my dealer a number of times and they say they haven't had anyone else with the problem.

I was lead to believe that it was the rear seat catch mechanism. They pulled the rear seats down before I returned to the car and told me to see if that made a difference. Of course it made a difference... you can now see straight through into the boot!

I suspect that when the rear seats are up the catch is not completely supporting the seats from all the rattles that pass through to the rear. It needs some dampening.

i must admit it only started happening after the first time i had folded the seats forward. I plan to get to the bottom this weekend.......

It'll wreck your head trying to find it ;) , I tried a few things but it always comes back to the catch for holding the seats in place. Mine seems to come from BOTH sides, either both at the same time or they alternate depending on the road....its that bad it even happens on good roads. I'm not sure if its the tab that pops up, the catch handle of the spring return to return the handle to its position. To be honest you'd really need to take the assembly out of the seat (not sure how hard that is).

One thing I know for sure is that if ya drop the seat and put it back up it goes away for a while...hence the reason that bringing it to dealer, dropping seat ...making adjustment and then putting seat back seems to cure it for them...but it'll be back.

I'd love to know if there has been an issue found by Skoda.

Oh for f**k sake, i now have a armrest squeak now!

looks like im covering the car in grease this weekend!:)

Thanks for the info guys, hopefully get to the bottom of it?

I had an irritating rattle from behind the rear seats and it turned out to be the plactic trim of the boot lit where it met the glass, - there is a sticking out semi circle bit behind which the rear washer spindle is housed and that seemed to creak a bit when pushed with my finger.

The solution, some bits of black 'funky foam' from the wife's card making kit wedged down the gap to damp it. Seemed to pretty much cure it!

Seem to have sorted the back squeek by covering the seat catches in grease. However the arm rest is tweeting like i have got a bird hostage in the jumbo box. :P

Any ideas what this might be? anyone pulled one to bits?:(

:(

dealer tried some sort of spray in mine but it didn't help.

:(

It seems flimsey

In my experience dealers can't really be ar-sed with sorting these types of problems out. Silicone crease everywhere is usually their solution. I had a Freelander a couple of years back and it rattled and sqeaked from the moment it left the showroom. When they eventually looked at it I got the car back smelling lie WD40 but sqeak free all the same.

Any news, anyone? The same rattle is driving me nuts! Click-click-rattle-click...

Covered all the metal bits in grease and it has stopped........a keep developing new ones though!

The armrest one is bothering me more now! tweet tweet

Black electrical tape on the seat catch's. Not pretty but quiet.

Ok so not quite the whole truth. Been rattling for a while now. Pushing the seats forward and then back seems to stop it for a while but just in case I have the car booked in nect week.

Let us know how you get on! Mine has come back after having to fold the seats forward yesterday.

I came back from holiday yesterday but before I went away I washed my car, cleaned the inside and left the front seats stretched right back (just to give them a rest). I also secured all of the seat belts into their locked position.

On my first drive in the car last night I noticed that the rear seats and catches did not rattle  . It may be worth plugging the rear seat belts in (even if they are not being used) as the tension on them may help to reduce the rattle on the catch mechanism.

octaviavrsman -> Is the other rattle coming from items inside the jumbo box e.g CD cases? I notice the if I leave my mobile phone in the cup holder section it judders like mad unless I position it in a certain (precarious) way.

Been to the dealers today. Asked them to sort the rattle and also check the drivers seat base as it moves.

They have pronounced the rattle fixed. They claim it was due to the side bolster which they have refitted and yes it does not rattle as I write. However I suspect they have had the seat backs down and up so I would also expect it to not rattle.

Only time will tell. I shall keep you posted.

As for the seat base I was told they all do that sir. We shall need to monitor it and if it gets worse then do something about it.

That coupled with getting a death trap Fabia with no brakes, (they are all like that sir) followed by another Fabia with slightly better brakes mean that my day was less than perfect.

I do hope this is not indicative of things to come!

The only noise the bolster made on mine was the rubbing against the door (which I mentioned here' date=' [url']http://www.briskoda.net/forums/new-octavia/noise-rear-seats/56803/?highlight=rattle)[/url], I fear your right about the aul it'll be back due to seats being dropped :( I'm putting all my money on the catch :) Mcgyver has cardboard push in on the top of his and he's confident the issue is gone..

The bolster only sits one way from what I can see.

When my Octavia hits a joint in the road--a sort of plip plip on the wheels I get a Click click right in my ear hole.

Only faint--my wife has sat in the rear leaning forwards and says she cannot hear it-- but it is driving me f---- mad.

If I move off with too few revs and induce a vibration in the car I get a vibration in the click click noise as well.

I've looked for coins trapped in the seat frame --stuff in door pockets --nothing.

It reminds me of a dried pea in a plastic cup. Tic tic or click click. I am sure something is loose in the door frame or door pillar or airbag or ----- God knows.

I seem to think that it is not so bad if I slam the door as though I'm trying to cause damage. Surely that can't be right can it ?

Any ideas ?

Is this the sort of rattle this thread is on about ?
