Vagcom needed to adjust idle

Featured Replies

Hi could do with a little help to raise my idle speed (and the car's, LOL)

I pm'd a few briskodians close to me (via the "map") but they just haven't been active on here for a while so I'm asking a bit further afield now.

I'm in north derbyshire and dont mind a bit of a journey if someone can help.

Cheers

Had the car hooked up to Vagcom today and tried to use the info in Roo's sticky post.

Instead of finding values between 124 and 132 we found a value of 32768! = 840r/min

Entering a value of 124 resulted in a drop to 750 r/min

Entering 132 did nothing and would not allow to be saved anyway

After experimenting with a few values we got the revs upto 882 r/min with a value of 32800

Was hoping to get them up to around 1000 r/min, anyone help?

Should I join Freedom and ask a tech? (silly question)

Cheers

Adaptation channels can have different value ranges this is where the difference between 127/32768 comes from. Adjusting the idle speed is natively a (sorry to say that) dumb idea, because it doesn't fix a problem it only hides it. As you experienced there is only a limited range of possible values and there is no way around this.

My suggestion would be to start from scratch...

Why did you want to alter the idle speed? Any problems with the car?

What is the part number and software version of your engine control module?

Natively? Did you mean naievely?

As for the values what's the point in having a Sticky thread that, clearly, doesn't work for my car?

In my case, raising the idle speed isn't a dumb idea because I have fitted polyurethane dogbone mount that has resulted in bad vibes at my current idle speed, unless I have a particularly rough idle? How would I check this?

A little pressure on the throttle to raise the revs to 1000 r/min and everything's sweet.

Of course if I go back to standard then I have no problem.

Any more suggestions? Anyone?
