Very South West Meet Feeler

Featured Replies

Any one be interested??

If so, I'll try and sort something out.

:wavey: Yup. But having meets around the Exeter area might get a few more people down from oooop north though. :)

Could be persuaded to come to a Cornish meet ......

Haven't had real pasty for ages

Sounds good to me.There acouple of others down here ethos and simon hopefully they will see this thread asell

Im up for an Exeter meet, rather selfishly as thats where I live. I could go the 'long way' round the city to put a few more miles on and make anyone coming up from Cornwall feel a little better!

I'd come, but ollymonkeynuts has stolen my car, can i come in an almera?

Are you down for the Weston meet in March? There'll be a convoy leaving Moto Services in time to get there. :) Led by myself who has done that route so many times, tomtom isn't even needed. :o

Keep me posted I'll come along :D

Is it worth starting a meet specific thread with the location & get some ideas of dates people prefer. For those of us travelling down please avoid the summer holidays, Easter, 1/2 term etc as the roads get a tadge busy.

I'd be up for a meet.... from Cornwall as well.

Lands End to St Ives

Map of Lands End to St Ives

You don’t have to travel abroad to find quality roads with plenty of scenery and history - the B3306 Cornish coast road from Lands End to St Ives is a prime example. Visitors can follow in the initial footsteps of thousands of Lands End to John O’Groats eventers, but there’s no need to try and set any records. Far better to admire the coastal scenery for an hour or two as you meander through the historic villages around the twisty, hilly and occasionally livestock strewn lanes. For wheelmen it’s also a rewarding few miles, with testing uphill switchbacks, steep drops, loose surfaces and excellent visibility along some stretches to work up an appetite before you hit St Ives for an ice-cream.

That is PROPER south-west though and might not attract that many people.

That's the last step before being in the damn Scilly Isles!

You mean the Isles of Scilly ....could be a real problem getting there and they only have 4 miles of road on St. Marys.

Lands End to St. Ives is a good road though, if a bit narrow in places.....I loved driving along the B3298 from Scorrier towards Falmouth ...until they put a speed limit on it:cool:

I find the traffic more of a problem than the speed limit.

Same as the hayle to carbis bay road. Good road, too many damn cars!!

penzance to st.just, across to lands end then back a30 to penzance.. top corners, good road and in winter no holiday makers! nothing ever happens down this far.......

What if I were to suggest Fraddon services on the A30?

We have the Cornwall VW club meets there and then go off on a drive.

Is this any nearer happening, if it is it needs to be organised before the oiks start the holiday traffic jams

Probably better just after Easter now.....give someone enough time to organise things ....would be happy with a road run from Hayle to Perranporth.......some of us may have already driven a few miles to get there :D or meet at Falmouth easy to get to lots of parking (although pay and display)

Hayle tp Perranporth sounds OK

Personally I would avoid bigger places aas it can be a pain to park a lot of cars together Re dates dont forget 1/2 term is after easter this year (at least it is in hampshire) so best avoid those weekends as well

I was only in the Hayle and Penzance area last week visiting family.

I may pop along/down (if I'm welcome being a non Skoda'ist).

Yep

I love the area, Going to Padstow this weekend to my favourite restaurant & no its not Steins, theres another little gem hidden away there. Padstows become seriously horrid over the last 10 years but get further than stroling distance from the centre & theres still coast to enjoy

half term here is 7th April to the 18th April so it looks like Saturday the 26th April could be a good date for most (less grockles) so if that is OK with djswivel I'll put my name down as a yes
