Octavia vRS interior tailgate trim HELP please!

Featured Replies

I have just had to take the trim off of the tailgate in order to replace the rear washer pipe which had decided to leap from its place!

The trim came off easy enough with a sharp tug! But replacing it seems to be a somewhat more difficult affair. I have searched but found nothing.

Can anyone help me with some suggestions on easy replacement of this trim piece please?

Remove the top trim and unclip the side trims, fit the tailgate trim, the side trims and the top trim.

Thanks, but mine is just one piece of trim! with a row of clips that stretch across the width of the car and over the top of the wiper motor and then cover right down to the end of the boot lid interior.

This fits along the window edge first and then pops into the other locations.

Its a right ba****d, Ended up using brute force!!

same here all i do it line one end of the clips up and then end up giving it a good whack along the top while someone holds the other end.

only real why ive found that i can get it back on

You have to slide it down the glass and then push in the other clips.I found sitting in the boot was the easiest way.Its a knighmare to do,quite frustrating.:thumbdwn:

Make sure the clips are on the plastic (if they're on the metal of the boot, pull them off and push them onto the plastic trim), then sit in the boot with the boot lid closed (parcel shelf removed too!) and it should go on. It's a bit of a pain! As mentioned, you need to push it up against the glass and then slide it down.

I hope this makes some sort of sense!

It majorly helps to have 2 of you doing it, even if all one of them is doing is supporting some of the weight of the trim piece!

Thanks a lot for all the posts. I though that this was going to be the best way to get it back on. I have most of the clips on the plastic have one missing though! Not sure what happened to that. Ah well! I will have a good go tonight and see what happens. Thanks again everyone.

i have to do this tomorrow! sounds like it will be fun!

any tips other than the above SCVRS??

Is the washer pipe coming off a common problem?

I had to do mine a couple of weeks back.

Getting the trim back on was a bit tricky, i must admit :)

Just did mine!

Ive put a couple of very tight small zip ties around either end of the hose connecting to the motor so hopefully it shouldn't pop off there again.

Cleaned the jets with a paper clip, works a treat now.

That trim was a barstuard to get off! But strangely just seemed to pop back on!!

Oh, and I also managed to lock myself in the boot not thinking about the fact that nobody could see me to let me out!!

Sunday fun.....

I need to do this too soon.

I asked the dealer to do it the other week while it was in for something else.....that added £18 to the bill....but it's come off again since.

Sunday fun.....
