6 beeps

Featured Replies

hi boys and girls,i have owned my octavia vrs mk1 for just over 2 weeks now, when i first put the ignition on there is 6 beeps and was just wondering if this is normal as after the car is started there are no warning lights on and the car runs perfect.

well when i say perfect the fan belt has started to slip as it is making a loud screeching noise for around 5 seconds when i start it,is this common? does anybody know if they are self adjusting or not and how expensive a new one is?

thanks for taking the time to read this.

The six beeps are the seat belt warning. Clunk click before you start and they'll go away.

6 beeps = put your seatbelt on? Try starting the car once you have put your seatbelt on and see if that makes any difference.

The alternator belt has a tensioner unit so it should sort itself out, but maybe your belt needs changing?

thanks guys put my seat belt on before turning the ignition on and no beeps

As already said, the aux drive has an automatic tensioner, but the tensioner has been known to fail. DAMHIKT!!

Does this also apply to a Mk2?

Came across on today that had the six beeps when the ignition was turned on (engine not started) but mine only beeps once car is moving above c.10mph.

Can this behaviour be changed with VCDS?

If it is the seatbelt and anything like the Mk I you can just unplug the seatbelt switch under the seat. My S3 seats in my Octy don't have the switch and mine's been silent ever since fitted. ;)

I can't abide putting my belt on until I've finished reversing.

Of course if anybody did hit me whilst I was doing this I'd be wondering what the heck they're doing on my driveway... ;)

Nice head restraints there Jimmy... Bit like the alfasud I nearly bought the other week, then slapped myself back to my senses. (with the help of 'er indoors...)

Visually Yes, but Tom Baker was my doctor lol

Yup he was the man,

I can remember the very first episode and couldnt work out why all the scenery flapped about lol.

Mine did this intermittently, sometimes it would beep when I hadn't fastened up my seatbelt, sometimes it wouldn't. I just unpluged the sensor under the seat.

U unplugging the senssor also messes up the seat belt pretensioners does it not!?

If so not a great idea

It's not a sensor, it's just a switch purely for the purpose of the warning light.

And since there's not one on the passenger seat...
