Just got back from helping a friend of SWMBO's and her partner get a car suitable for their expected little one.

They'd seen a few mini MPVs they'd liked, and they settled on a Renault Scenic.

I gave it a test drive to check all was ok, and I now want to go shopping for another car for myself! It was so good to have a comfortable car to drive around in. Sure, it rolled but it was so relaxing to drive!

Taken off my old Audi while it had steels on, did maybe a thousand miles on them so they are pretty much like new!

If elected this is what I'll do (a round-up of my best ideas thus far and included bits I've nicked from other parties):


Fuel duty to be cut to 20p and will not rise above inflation. Ever. Road tax to be axed and replaced with a combined MOT/insurance disc for £100 per year. MOT test to remain the same and insurance premium tax to be axed. The difference in taxation income to be topped up by a 25% increase in VAT if you buy a car which includes one of the following in it's name/model: Prius, Hybrid, Green, Blue, Prius. Also, tofu and organic veg to be taxed at 25% above VAT.

Bus lanes to be made illegal. Double deckers buses to be made illegal. All buses will be the short wheel base variety. At peak times, two buses will take the route in tandem. This reduces wastes road space by having 1 man and a small goat on a double decker at 2 in the afternoon.

Nationalise trains and reduce fares. Mainlines to connect London, Manchester and Edinburger.

Raise the learning to drive age to 18. Make compulsory re-tests a year after you have passed, then every year after that at the normal driving test cost. People over 65 to have compulsory re-tests every year. Compulsory re-test after an at-fault collision where considerable damage to public or private property took place.

Speed cameras to be abolished.

Highways maintenance people forced to work faster. I suggest giving them Red Bull intravenously.

Abolish House of Lords.

Halve number of MPs and fix their salaries at £50,000. No expenses. If they can't live on that then they must reassess their life-style.

Build a block of flats for MPs to live in if they're from outside of Greater London. Or, just use the dorms from the Olympics.

Leave the EU. Deporting any EU nationals. Just leave them in Calais, they'll find their way back eventually. Same with asylum seakers, don't make them sign a book every week, just give them to France to look after. France still owes us for WW2.

Points based immigration system. First point is for being able to speak English without a heavy accent. Second would be are they a valuable worker, or are they just going to poach a job that a British person would do?

6 moths Job Seekers Allowance. If you've not got a job you will be offered training. If you show no progress with looking for a job, then all benefits will stop.

Reassess other people on benefits. Just cause you're morbidly obese doesn't mean you can't work - plenty of call centres install equipment at workers houses.

The NHS needs doctors, surgeons, nurses and support staff, not bean counters. All other admin staff to reapply for roles, but must also be prepared to argue why their job is important for the running of the surgery/hospital.

Schools need teachers, a head teacher, a secretary/receptionist, a caretaker and a smattering of teaching assistants to deal with children with special educational needs. They don't need bursars, office managers, site managers and all these other invented roles staffed by old biddies with nothing better to do. Again, these adamin staff to reapply for roles, but must be prepared to argue why their job is important for the running of the school.
