Booked in for service and lots of updates waiting
Little update Work all done and the paperwork mentions "90EE-S-Update to PV4". No idea on the full details but one thing I've noticed is that if using start/stop and you're in a queue, when the car in front moves off, I restart with zero input. No pedals, auto hold, etc. It just restarts. Also so far, no re-occurance of the random 'fail to turn over'.

vRS 4.5 annoyances (and birds!)
I've found the speed warning to be off at times. M4 J5- 7 westbound stands out. Complains loudly that it's a 50mph zone. It's like a hangover from some roadworks a few years ago. Pigeons are monumentally stupid and will place a crumb in the road over their survival.

Octavia 4.5 Facelift Dashcam Install
Pictures of my DR970x LTE fitted to my 4.5. Cable fed from switched live (rear wiper) via the BlackVue B124x battery, up A pillar, avoiding airbag. Along under headlining and around rain sensor etc. Coax to rear fed to where I need to route properly when it turns warmer.

Booked in for service and lots of updates waiting
Just popped in to book my 2024+ Octavia in for service and mentioned I'd had a weird very intermittent fault. Unlock car, get in. Turn on with button. Press to start and nothing happens. Turn off, turn on and still nothing. Dash comes on but no crank. Lock up and walk away for a couple of minutes. Repeat and starts no issues. Usually occurs at the most inopportune moments such as heading to airport. Called out assistance and it was put down to not pressing brake pedal hard enough (???) Apparently there is a whole lot of updates awaiting that would put Windows to shame. Now booked in for 3 days to get them all done. They wanted 2, but have an extra 'just in case...' So if you're experiencing odd, intermittent issues, check to see if there is an update awaiting.

MK3.5 vRS vs. MK4.5 cabin noise
I find my 4.5 much quieter than the 3.5. 4.5 feels better put together and higher quality. Yes, there is a lot of plastic but not the thin, rattley type. The 1.5 mild hybrid engine is quieter than the 1.4 and reduced tapping from the injectors. Of course, your ears may tell you different

Dash Cam Install on vRS
If you have megabucks to spend, look at Blackvue. Parking mode, cloud storage and with 4G connection, remote viewing. £400+ though

Wheel/tyre combo
Hi Did a search but couldn't find a reasonable match Currently have a FL hatch with 17-inch wheels and 205/55/17 tyres fitted to 7Jx17 ET46 Mensa wheels. The tyres are Goodyear EfficientGrip, which are frankly, pretty poor. Later this year I'm looking to get them replaced with Michelin Pilot Sport 5. They don't do a 205/55/17 but from what I've read, I can fit the 225/50/17 or even 225/45/17. Appreciate there is a trade-off but has anyone done this and encountered any problems? Thanks

Just how reliable is the Mk iv ? Would you avoid.
Just over a year into mine and only a couple of niggles. Occasionally won't start. Not even turn over. Had to call Assistance and seems to be a feature. The brake pedal goes hard and needs a really firm push to bypass the interlock and start. 2nd is a squeaking rear suspension. That and Royal Mail deciding to cut across 3 lanes and clip the rear end. Being fixed in the new year.

2024 Facelift Octavia Dash Rattle
I had a rattle and it drove me nuts to weeks trying to pin it down. Turned out is was my sunglasses in the roof holder. The sound seemed to come from the glovebox

Good question. Ummmm... I'll have to go back and find it.

Skoda octavia sportline 2025 facelift and obdeleven
SFD2 is the 'problem'. OBDEleven can now read and clear errors but no major mods. I did manage to turn off speed warning as it goes off on the motorway when the system thinks it a 50 but is actually 70. Still can't enable 'short drop' on the front windows.

OBDeleven for VAG - updated for Octavia MKIV FL
A new OBDeleven for VAG update has been released (iOS 1.9.46) which allows SFD2 to be read/write. You need to set up 2FA on the app with something like Google Authenticator, MS Authenticator etc. and verify a few details. I've not had chance to really dig into it but it can read all modules, show any fault codes and clear them.

DTE Pedalbox for 2024 FL
A word of warning for anyone looking at ordering a DTE Pedalbox. If you order for the 1.5 TSI e-TEC 150HP/11-kW 1498cc 2024 FL, you might want to hold off for a while, The version they ship at the moment has the wrong connectors and will not fit. The one I ordered had the 8K0 973 706 connector whereas the FL has 4F0 973 706 connector. DTE are now aware and shipping me an updated version. Hopefully they will update their webshop in due course.
