  1. Thanks for the replies. The pressure information sticker is on the rear wheel arch and can be read by opening the rear dor on the driver's side (UK). The pressures are only given in Bars/Kpa as follows - All wheel sizes, both front and rear with light load (i.e driver and passenger) = 2.5 bars (36psi) All wheel sizes with full load (i.e driver, four passengers/full luggage) Front = 2.7 bars (39psi). Rear = 3.4 bars (49psi)!
  2. I'm very happy with my Mk.SEL except for the somewhat harsh ride. Previous VW's had a 'comfort' setting for tyre pressures so would it be sensible to reduce the presures on the 16" tyres by about 4psi from the normal settings of 37psi/ 40psi ? I'd be very grateful for comments.
  3. Thanks for all the warranty info. My car will be 1 year old in 3 days! It seems to me that the warranty is something of a jungle and open to interpretation. I'll talk to the dealer and see what the reaction is.
  4. I have some rattles in the rear of the car particularly obvious on rough roads at low speeds. I thought that they were coming from the nearside back seat/boot area. I removed everything from the boot, removed the parcel shelf and lowered the rear seats but the annoyance is still present but a little louder. My long suffering wife sat in the back and thought the noise might be coming from the door on either side or the boot area but douldn't say if it was from the left or right side. I also sat in the back and agreed with my wife's 'diagnosis' but couldn't locate the area. I'd be very grateful for suggestions/hints/experience of anything similar. I'm reluctant to take the car to a dealer as I'm very doubtful if the rattle would be investgated as part of the warranty.
  5. Thanks for the replies. Of course, what I was really looking for were people who had already fitted these struts. I wasn't really going to buy these and become the guinea pig! Very selfish of me I'm afraid!
  6. I have a damaged shoulder and I'm finding it very difficult to locate, in its place, the long metal strut and hold up the very heavy Mk.4 (2025) 'lid' at the same time. Has anyone fitted a pair of gas struts to the Mk.4 (2025)? I notice that there are a few suppliers on Ebay etc. I'd be grateful for comments.
  7. Yes, I'd heard of several VW mirrors dropping out apparently because of melted glue caused by too long use of mirror heating. It's probably a matter of some doubt! I also had a Toyota where the rear window and mirror heating were combined in one switch and turned off after a few minutes. It seems that it doesn't really matter how long you leave the mirror heating on Skoda's
  8. When door mirror heating is selected does the heating stay on for a specific time (i.e. similar to the rear widow heating) or does it have to be turned off, if you remember!? It's probably not a good idea to leave the heating on for too long. The manual only says to turn the heating off by moving the switch to another setting.
  9. Now replaced with Bosch - remarkable transformation; much quieter than the Skoda originals.
  10. I've had Skoda and VW cars with DSG and Fords with dual clutch auto boxes for the last 20 years without any problems whatsoever. IMO gear changing is a much overarted pastime especially in heavy traffic. I'ts interesting to see that some manufacturers do not even make manual cars anymore and that the number of people buying automatic cars has increased considerably.
  11. Thanks for those links. I was surprsed that an almost new car with low mileage, should have such noisy wipers. However, the wipers are also streaking the windscreen badly. I suspect that the dealer deposited some cleaning material on the screen that should have been kept on the bodywork.
  12. Just come back to Skoda after some years and bought a 6month old, 700 miles Fabia SE. So far I'm very impressed except for very noisy wipers. I've ordered new Bosch twin wiper blades but I'm not convinced that it's just the blades; obviously I'll find out when I get the blades but I'd welcome comments. Incidentally I'm glad to see that Briskoda is still thriving with lots of info.
