Peculiar insurance prices
27 January 2012 - 16:25
31 years old, male, 5 years licence, 5 years no claims currently guaranteed with present insurer, live in reasonably decent area in terms of insurance prices, adding partner as named driver 10 years licence. No claims or accidents.
Renewal price from current insurer
£218
Cheapest prices on Confused.com
£337 NC protected with Admiral
£309 NC not protected through Auto Direct
Current insurer's price (only quoted on below sites)
MoneySuperMarket.com
£939
Tesco Compare
£225
Needless to say I'll simply be renewing with current insurer. I don't understand why other insurer's prices aren't anywhere near. Current insurer is eCar insurance. -

Bit of a tight fit, but a good push and they get in there. Had 2 clips break on one, but still seems to fit tight enough. -
Removing brake fluid strainer
07 January 2012 - 10:24
Sure I've removed it before as I remember cleaning it. It doesn't seem to want to come out now though. I've tried using flat screwdrivers to lever it out, but no luck. Any tips?
TIA
Edit: got fed up and decided to use needle nose pliers and brute force. Worked and flung a small amount of brake fluid here and there. -
Genuine Citroen Stubby Aerial - Now sold
04 January 2012 - 12:24
Bought this off ebay after seeing it mentioned on the Fabia section. I subsequently bought the Honda S2000 aerial and found the reception better on my Pioneer stereo with Autoleads signal booster. I live in a valley with poor radio reception at the best of time anyway. In inner city areas it was perfectly fine. Probably good if you live in a good radio signal area/don't listen to the radio much.
Only used for a few months. Perfect condition, only notable thing is there's a little copper grease on the threads I put on to stop it seizing in the base. 7cm long including thread.
Here it is in action.

Cheapest I could find on ebay new £7.20 delivered.
Say £2.50 including p&p? -
Instrument cluster connecting pin type?
22 December 2011 - 22:12
I'm just wondering what type of connecting pin the plugs on the instrument cluster use. In particular interested in the front fog warning lamp one (pin 19 of the 32 pin connector). I am guessing it is the same type as those in the fusebox for the small fuses?! I presume fitting is the usual VAG affair of pushing/removing a purple tab etc?
TIA B)
