  1. well, Skoda UK say "you need to get the Dealer to check it out before we can decide if any Goodwill can apply" and that the diagnostic check would cost £100 It's probably not worth paying even more for the extra check, in the hope that there might be some money off what will likely be a more expensive repair bill
  2. Resurrecting this thread to say I have a 19 reg vRS 245 with less than 30k miles on it, which gave me the "COOLANT WARNING" beeps 8 weeks apart. Local independant has comfirmed it's the water pump, quoting me all in roughly £900 said it was common thing on some VAG cars due to plastic pump he suggested getting in touch with Skoda to see about a contribution but I'm not sure it's worth trying
  3. Love the sunflowers, Beefy. We've been growing some, and one of them grew weird at the top making it look heart shaped. We have lots of bees on our ball thistles (echinops?) as well
  4. Look in the used car section of local main dealers *- the 3 garage dealership group nearest me doesn't put any of their used cars on Auto Trader *yes, yes I know they are likely to be overpriced but it does give you more ideas
  5. Have now seen a black / dark grey iX in the metal at work, it doesn't look too bad to me.
  6. I asked about it when I collected the car, was told it was "just advisory" and I could get it done another time
  7. My vRS is in for 3 year service today. The visual health check just came back and mentioned the front diff oil (amber) needing changed after 3 years, £110 I had no idea beforehand that it was a job needing doing (have had separate specific emails /adverts about servicing and brake fluid based on car age) nor did they mention it when I called to book it in. They haven't (yet) called me to ask if I want it done today either.
  8. I guess what's important is the distance from the clip to the free end, rather than the overall length of the blade
  9. I need to replace the rear wiper on my vRS estate. The current one is 14 inches long, but when I looked in Halfords the suggested replacements (both own brand and Bosch) were either 16 inches (would be too big) or 13 inches Seems odd that there isn't a direct match. Has anyone else faced this recently? Did you just put up with the decrease in swept area?
  10. Listened to the race this morning in bed, and then actually bothered to watch the C4 highlights in the afternoon.
  11. I'm not particularly complaining that the compulsory part exists, was just wondering if that part - in other people's experiences - seems to be bigger than it used to be. My current policy - and their proposed renewal - has a £0 total excess. So I was surprised to see nothing similar in the results from the price comparison website
  12. I've just done a price comparison run for insurance renewal. As usuall asking for 0 voluntary excess. Given that my current policy is genuinely £0.00 excess (except for young drivers, non approved repairs and a bit for windscreens) I was surprised to see how much compulsory excess (often 200-300 pounds) that some of the results were wanting to add on, and none of them had a £0 compulsory excess Anyone else noticed this, or are my memories of previous renewals rose-tinted and I just got lucky before ?
  13. A fiver per battery. I did something wrong when I tried to change mine recently and goosed 2 out of 3 keys See my post from Nov '21 but check the advice below that about draining the residual power before putting the new battery in.
  14. Wasn't sure if I should post this here, or the Lego thread https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/mclaren-launches-1432-piece-lego-model-of-its-2021-f1-car/7988748/
