Topics I've Started

  1. Centre Air Vents

    22 July 2011 - 20:46

Each of the centre air vents on my car has the top horizontal louvres which do not operate.

I've worked out how to remove the vent / hazard switch assembly, but before I rip it apart, can the individual louvres be repaired, or does the whole assembly have to be replaced?

I suspect the latter, as I suspect that something has been snapped inside, probably as a result of an air freshener, phone or similar having been hung on it by the previous owner.
  2. Have I done something stupid?

    08 July 2011 - 20:39

To cut a long story short, took my Octy vRS in to Winner today ref. the coil pack recall, and whilst wandering about the forecourt with SWMBO the following caught our eye.

    http://atsearch.auto...201127396179474

She loved it, I've been thinking to change the the old vRS for a while, so following a 20 minute drive and play with it, we've bought it (for considerably less than the asking price I hasten to add)
I know it's high mileage, it was a reps car, but I've seen the service book, serviced by Winner's from new. New DPF and cam belt, Body / paintwork nearly perfect, interior excellent (mats a bit worn, but better than mine) and after a haggle on the price for cash vs. mileage, they've agreed to 3 months warranty, 2 "mid range" new front tyres, 6 months tax, service, fluids and filter change and MOT.

Then I logged on here to have a look around the Superb forum instead of the Octy one I usually frequent and discovered the oil pump problem with the 2.0 PD engine.

So my question is, is there any way of telling from the engine number if this is an affected model (the thread referred to below seems to suggest not, but is a bit confusing), or have I just chucked £2.5k away in exchange for worrying if it's going to go mammaries vertical at any minute?

    Bl**dy impulse buys!!!!!!!!
