Another one bites the dust....
13 September 2011 - 16:26
Well after the track day on Saturday at Castle Combe with some strange noises from the turbo, I thought it would be best to have it checked over asap. Good job really as its ******. This was the second turbo fitted to this car, after the original KKK lunched itself on the Nurburgring. This one has only been fitted for 30k miles.

There was no play in the bearings, but as you can see from the pictures something has been getting into the air intake and has mullered the blades. My thoughts are the dodgy airbox lid which has never sat right, but I think was letting a small amount of air past the air filter, and thus no filtration was taking place. Either that or some debris from the old failed turbo wasn't cleaned out properly and has been sucked in.
The turbo is getting sent away for inspection tomorrow, and to see if they can fit a new part. If they say that its not repairable then I really don't know what to do next! :( -

FMIC map adjustment
20 July 2011 - 11:59
Hello everyone,
After having my stage 2 map, the car has been excellent. I have now fitted a Forge FMIC to the car (I know in theory it would have made sense to fit the FMIC before remapping, but I managed to get this one much cheaper, so unfortunately it's come after).
Will there be any major benefit in having the map tweaked to suit this? There seems to be a little more lag now, it's not drastic, but if I know that having something fettled could make it better then I would be all for it. Would there be any other benefits that could be gained?
Could you give me an estimate for what you would charge for such a thing please?
Also as a second estimate - how much would you charge to remove the EML light, as I have disconnected the EGR (it's still there, just not functioning). The engine is an ASZ, so as far as I am aware should be able to be done? The light has not illuminated yet in over 1000 miles driving, but I am sure it will come on soon....?!?
Many thanks,
Simon. -
Fabia vRS Battery
19 June 2011 - 11:45
Hi all,
Was away for work the past two days, went to start the car in the morning where I was staying and the battery was flat.
Had to call the RAC out as it was my only option. The chap tested the old battery and one of the cells had gone, I agreed to have a new battery fitted and that due to me being away with work, I could not use the original one as it would fail to start the car next time I needed to.
Now I am home, I have had more chance to look into things. He has fitted one of these http://www.boschbatt...0ah-31-1-71.php however a quick look on Eurocarparts suggests that this battery should be fitted to my car http://www.boschbatt...2ah-32-1-57.php
If I am paying £100 for something on the spot, I at least want it to be the right damn one!
Am I worrying about nothing? It's just the battery that they have supplied me seems a little small for a diesel IMO, it may work fine for now, but the last thing I want is to come to winter time, and I am left with a car that struggles to start when I have important work to do.
Thanks
