  1. I wasn't too sure what I was doing, but after reading your replies & a bit of following my nose, I have now got all 4 windows back to opening & closing on the fob, so PetrolDave & OccyVRS: thanks very much for your help.
  2. Hi PetrolDave, Thanks for your reply, please note 4 windows & 4 doors used to open/close on long press open/close fob buttons all the time in 7½ years I've had the car from new. Hopefully I've followed your instructions correctly, here's what I did: 1 Long pressed fob open button (all 4 doors unlocked - all 4 windows remained closed - as per my post 2 Opened driver's door, opened all 4 windows on driver's window controls, closed driver's door and long pressed fob open button (to reset it?) 3 Closed all 4 windows on driver's window controls, closed driver's door, long pressed close button (to reset it?) & all 4 doors locked 4 Waited 30 secs, then long pressed fob open button, all 4 doors unlocked, BUT all 4 windows still remained closed Thanks for your help & instructions, I'm sorry I'm late in replying to you. Should you reply, please note I won't be able to respond until Monday
  3. Hi All, On this warmish day, I tried for the first time this year, a long press on the fob unlock button and found that it no longer opens/closes all windows on approaching/leaving the car. I checked opening & closing settings and all doors and all windows are set to open, where they've always been set since new. I tested central locking and all four driver's window buttons, and everything works as it should. After trying Swimbo's fob with same result, that's exhausted my investigation. It's not the end of the world, but any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Just bear in mind I'm old & moderately disabled and getting in and out of the car is about my limit, so don't ask me to start removing door trims etc! I'll leave an apple on the sideboard for anyone who comes up with a solution! Thanks
  4. Thanks langers2k & Paulski for clearing this up for me. Hopefully I won't have to use it, but it'll be handy to help someone else out if needed. Thanks again, Wingco
  5. Hi All, I have looked for the answer here and elsewhere, but haven't found a specific answer. The mk3 Octavia owner's manual, p290 fig. 336 says you "use ground point "A" if you have stop start sys. without stop/start, connect -ve to engine block or solid metal part bolted to it as your ground point". I don't have stop/start sys. I recently bought a NOCO GB40 lithium boost jump starter, the -ve cable is too short to reach any ground point other than point "A". My thoughts are ground point "A", is the obvious ground point - with or without stop/start - what is the real technical reason (obviously above my pay grade), as to why I should not use it, as the manual implies? Thanks for your help
