Trade-in offers with VAT deal
04 April 2011 - 17:12
I have been making enquiries about changing my 66,000 mile Mk1 2.0i Elegance for a Mk2 (probably manual 1.2tsi Elegance). With the VAT-off deal and the consequent unpredictable delivery, I prefer to trade-in so that there is no hassle with synchronising the changeover. According to What Car and Glass's, my car is worth around £2,700 trade-in (private sale £3,500 and to buy from a dealer £4,500). The dealer keeps coming back with about £1,750 - which is sub-scrappage value! Anyone else getting similar responses? -
The things you are most indifferent about...

Following hot (or boringly luke warm) on the tail of "The thing you hate most..." and "The thing you love most..." Here is what I have...
What the new Skoda logo looks like
The colour of the wheels
Whether the grill surround is black or chrome

Removing badges
08 March 2011 - 13:30
Has anyone de-badged their Fabia? On the Mk1, badges on new cars could be removed with a hair-dryer and a piece of fishing line slid behind them. Are there locating holes in the panel? -
Jacking points and axle stands
28 February 2011 - 13:33
I need to get the front of my Fabia 2.0i up on axle stands but I am unclear as to where the axle stands can go with the trolley jack in the way. I have the following pikky. Could someone please point out the best place?

BTW, I just bought the Halfraud's trolley + axle stands + inspection trolley set which seems like a good buy for £60.
