Best thing is this stuff also damages the dpf over time and that needs replacing at 72,500 or 75000 service again depending on year of car,
Think of creasote that you paint on your fence at home with, it looks just like that but more corrosive
IIRC correctly adblue is essentially just urea whereas some other manufacturers use a diffferent solution with cerium in it which costs a damn site more.
I'm sure I read a thread recently where someonen got the adblue from a motor factors or somewhere for a fraction of what VW charge (it is essentially a weak solution of wee). -

You really need to get the cambelt changed ASAP.
It could be the 109 relay, as that controls the power to the ecu.
As Ken suggested contacting an auto electrician would be a good place to start, or seeing if anyone local to you has VCDS and could scan the car for faults like rk696 said. Without some more information we are just guessing really.
If you look in the diagnostics forum it has a list of people who have VCDS and where they are located. -

Just to throw another idea in. When was the cambelt last changed? Was it about 3 years ago? If the timing on the fuel injection pump is too retarded then it will be a pig to start when cold.
Does it start OK when the engine is warm? Also what happens if you double cycle the glow plugs before trying to start it (i.e. when the glow plug light goes out turn the ignition off an on again, then try to start it)?
Does the glow plug light stay on for a long time when it is cold or does it only stay on for 1-2 seconds? -

You can check the pulley by using a small screwdriver to rotate the vanes within the alternator round - you should be able to move them one way, if it won't turn then the pulley is seized. However the pulley make be starting to seize in which case you need to remove the pulley and compare to a new one to see the difference.
Thw WD40 may actaully help for a short while. Was it worse when the engine was cold?

Have had a real good nosey online today as mine is broken and cannot seem to find the parts anywhere. A guy on ebay wanting to sell me a new back seat. Surely there is a better option than this.
