Topics I've Started

  1. Life on benefits and the "cuts"

    01 February 2012 - 13:09

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-16812185

Seriously here is a family that gets over £26k a year on benefits.
The cuts mean they stand to lose £82.40 per week.

So cut the optional items of Sky, entertainment and mobile phones and that's £67 a week saved off their bills.
Then cut the 200 fags and tobacco. They can also drop the cans of beer and make it a 4 pack.

£200 fags must be at least £40. So there that's £107 off their bills.

They are now better off and don't have the health issues. Mobile phones for the kids are a luxury not a given.

As for the guy who used to write educational software in 2001 not being able to get a job.. I'm sorry you could have adapted your software skills to other areas and also if you couldn't you could go and get any other job like working in a pub or shop.

That plus they get nearly £400 a week for their kids. That's more than most people they are being compared against are being paid per week after tax.

How can people like this winge that they are losing money. They really need to go and get off their arses.
We only have sky, because we'd have nothing to do otherwise. I dunno you could always get out and go and try and find a job.
  2. HRA to the rescue again...

    Well what good news:

A man who hates everything about the west and regularly goes on about Islamic states, who attacks Britain and didn't so care that people were killed in cold blood on 11th Sept or 7th July is now hiding behind the EHCR.

All of the UK justice system says he should go, but some leftie nicompoop in Strasbourg says not.

Personally I think we should ship him out there anyway. I mean what are they going to do? Fine us, ok so we don't pay.
It's completely bonkers that our justice system, proven over hundred of years is being pushed around like this.
  3. One months wages after tax?

    18 January 2012 - 14:34

To all the men out there, who know what I'm on about, does that sound about right or too high?

You hear all sorts of numbers banded around, but frankly those saying two months wages upwards are having a joke.
If you need that much, you can jog on.

  5. Wind Power to the rescue

    08 December 2011 - 17:40

Well good to see high winds are creating power for the UK:

    http://news.stv.tv/s...s-hit-scotland/

    or not...

So they don't work when there isn't much wind, they don't work when it's blowing in the wrong direction and they don't work when it's very windy.
They cause noise pollution and are an eye sore and catch fire often (from a bit of research this isn't the first time.

Now remind me why we are wasting money on this over hydro, tidal and nuclear for base load?
