Hi, guys.

This is just to gauge interest in something a little bit different - trial lessons in a glider at the South Wales Gliding Club's site near Usk. Paraphrasing from the Club's website :-

Group Trial Lesson
Two winch launches [per person]. You are launched using our powerful winch that takes you to between 700 -1400 feet, depending on the conditions. You can try the controls and get a panoramic view of the area. Group lessons cost £28 per person and have to be booked in advance.

These winch trial lessons are suitable for groups of people from work or a club. Group members may assist with operations if they wish, and at the end of the evenings flying people often end up in the bar or one of the local pubs to make an evening of it. These group evenings run on Wednesdays and Thursdays from May until August, starting at about 5:30pm.

The minimum number for the group rate is four; there isn't a set maximum, but logistics make it difficult to accommodate more than about eight. EDIT: erm, perhaps I ought to make it clear that you will be in a two-seat glider, with a qualified instructor at the controls

Bump...

I find it difficult to believe that nobody is interested in a couple of flights in a glider. Even if you just sit back and let the instructor do all the flying*, this is a perfect opportunity to get a panoramic view of South East Wales and the Bristol Channel. You can see both Severn bridges, and a whole lot more!

*You don't have to touch the controls if you don't want to, but once you're up there, you will want to play with them

I would love to have a go, been gliding before and it's great....but I can't make work evenings, it's too far to make it in time
