Best Price For Octy Vrs?

My local dealer has promised to match / beat any genuine quote on a UK car, provided it's available etc etc.

The best price I have found so far is from drivethedeal.com, at just over £14,400 with cruise and reverse sensors.

Unless anyone has any better prices, this is what I'll use to beat the dealer into submission. It sounds fair - it's lower than the What Car? target price.....

It does sound fair and parking sensors are certainly a must. However, are you sure your dealer included internet based retailers?

Yes; drive the deal is acceptable, as the car you buy is supplied by a UK dealer. They'll match any internet "brokers".

Jim, that's a good price. I got mine for £14500 from a main dealer with black paint, cruise and sensors (and a pretty decent part-ex).

If your guy beats the drivethedeal price, you'll have nabbed yourself a good 'un.

Talking

A main dealer near where I live (check my details) offered me a black vRS with cruise, UK spec, for £14K spot-on back in Sept (eventually bought 2002 model for £11K ). www.micronetshowroom.com said they could source me a UK spec (17" + 6 Disc + Rear Washwipe) for £13,850, so maybe slighty cheaper than your quote once cruise + parking added (+£400?). www.motorpoint.co.uk often have import vRS's (16", 1 Disc CD, no rear wipe) for £12,699, you could upgrade wheels etc and come in under 14K . It will be registered as an import though.

Rich

P.S. Check out Liverpool Victoria for insurance, no charge for Mods . Also cheapest quote by far (beat Directline, Elephant etc).

Huck - care to name the dealer? That's a good price, as the drivethedeal doesn't include metallic (I want red!!).

Unless things have changed recently, red is one of the 'standard' colours (no offence, before anyone starts ) along with yellow and silver. When I got mine the only cost option on colour was black...

...and that's because it looks the dogs doodahs!!!

Silver is also a metallic colour and therefore an "extra" , along with black .

No extra charge for red or yellow

Edited to say , beaten to it by Geoff

Having sent out 13 e-mails, I have so far received 2 replies - I am glad to see that the motor trade is so bouyant that they needn't persue customers who want to buy, with cash, in the next 2 weeks!

Best price so far is 13,960 inc 12 months RFL, delivery last week in October. This quote is for a red VRS with cruise and reverse sensors.... bargain!

My black VRS estate was £12999 + the usual car supermarket tax and admin fee nonsense from eurocars in Epsom. Full UK spec (climate control etc.), but a Maltese import, but not a problem for me as I'll get through the 3 year UK warranty's limited miles within the two year warranty period anyway. However, my mate rang up about a Subaru Impreza (why?) and was told by them that they're not currently importing any cars due to the strength of the Euro so what they've currently got in stock may be the last for a while. Noticed on broadspeed.com that they're offering £12500 for the estate, but when I asked for a proper quote I just got a couple of e-mails offering to beat prices I'd already got so didn't bother.

Hit my first 1000 miles now so started to open it up a bit and been impressed so far... Being the estate it's a bit wallowy compared to my TT, but it's 1000% preferable to driving the Vectra it replaced! Just to got fit the car kit for the phone now and some amateur radio gear. Anyone got any ideas for antenna mounting on the estate?

The motor trade and e-mail have never been great pals - if you want to negotiate phoning is always the best way...

I got best UK supplied price from Showroom4cars, then took it to my local dealer who not only matched it, but then bettered the deal!

Drop g7pkf (aka Dean) a PM. He's got more aerials on his Estate than GCHQ has worldwide!

Will do. Trying to keep it fairly low key on the car, the house is bad enough! Just a couple of smallish whips will suffice..... for the time being. Glad to discover the post here for the car kit antenna, that's one less for a start.

Iambic,
If you are going to panel mount your antennas, it is very easy to get access to roof at rear - I have one panel mount base installed in centre of roof ahead of radio antenna, which I have also changed for a multiband GPS combination.
Not sure what you are going to use the whips for - you can have a look at our website if you want professional type antennas!

Only just noticed that my import also has ESP which according to other threads I've read isn't standard in the UK. I just presumed it was as everything else that's in the UK spec is there. Or is it a standard feature nowadays?
