I read that magazine for the first time last night in a doctors' waiting room. There was mention in the Long Term Tests section of the eye-watering depreciation suffered in just one year by their Volvo Estate. IIRC it was about 50% on a car costing around £42K new. Could someone with the September magazine please post what model Volvo it was and the new and secondhand prices quoted.

And a very nice car it is too. The depreciation they state isn't too shocking really, considering that the optional extras do little for residual value, and they put quite a lot of mileage on the car.

Thanks for the info on the V70R. 72p a mile depreciation doesn't sound bad at all, does it.

Talking

Our local Motorised Plod unit has a vRS estate.
Have spoken to one of them that used to live in my street, who has driven it.

His comment was , it is a very popular car . & they cannot wait for their rota to put them in it.

You'll find now all the new plod cars will be silver.

As for why/how they got white ones, no idea. The white vRS that flashed you was probably one of the special edition WRC models.
