| Also posted in my insurance but thought more people might be interested in it here especially guests to the site. Looking at the Skoda Site I see that the Fabia range comes with free insurance with some exceptions (guess what!). No vRS or 2.0 models are included and you need to be younger than 80 but older than 25 so us hooligans aren't included. Not a bad offer for Skoda to be doing on a popular range like the Fabia. Full details are below. Fabia 12 months Free Insurance Insurance offer valid for vehicles registered between 1st October 2003 and 31st December 2003 inclusive. Available at participating retailers only. Scheme administered by Boncaster Ltd (koda Insurance), a member of the General Insurance Standards Council. Offer valid for UK mainland only, (excludes Northern Ireland and Isle of Man). Offer excludes Fabia vRS, Elegance 2.0 Hatchback and Elegance 2.0 Estate. Minimum excess charge of £100. Offer open only to drivers age 25 to 80, with a full UK/EU drivers licence held for at least 12 months, for private, social, domestic and pleasure use only. Insurance offered is fully comprehensive for 12 months only, no premium refund will be given. Contact your local retailer for full acceptance criteria, terms and conditions, and policy cover details. Subject to status and availability.

| Well - I'd be screwed with the points on my license, assuming"full" = no points? And I'd have to wait until next January, and as it doesn't include the vRS, which is the only next Fabia I'd want, then the deal can go forth and multiply. For me, that is, it could be good for a 25 year old who wants to buy a 1.4 16V, or one like mine.

| Lack of business use could pose a problem for some, eg, my wife who, as a teacher, must have business use insurance cover to be able to carry pupils and to claim mileage for attending courses. And does it cover other drivers, eg spouses/partners?

| Indeed. When are insurers going to take note that not *all* under 25's are a huge risk?

| Hmm - I am. (not) - And from January I'll be a huge risk 25+ as well. What does that free insurance deal say about making modifications to the car you've bought. I.e. you get a 1.9TDI, and remap it to be quicker than the vRS as standard, which is excluded from the deal... ![]()

| Ah yet another case of the UK citizens of Northern Ireland being descriminated against. I wish I had enough money to challenge this sort of exclusion in court. After all could you imagine the uproar if the offer of free insurance did not apply to homosexuals or asians etc. Also I doubt if they have lowered the cost of the cars in NI to compensate. In fact due to less competition it is rather harder to get good discounts in NI. |

| It doesn't mention commuting either - that would rule out another huge swathe of drivers. Sometimes commuting is included in SDP but usually it's explicitly described as "SDP and commuting to a fixed place of employment". |

| I was offered, and accepted, free insurance on my Octavia 1.9 TDI last January. Initially it was for social, domestic and pleasure but I was able to persuade the insurer to cover use in business or profession. Although I'm officially retired I need the additional cover so that I can claim travel costs from part-time (voluntary) activities. There was no additional premium. |

| Well done, DJB. At least others will now know it is worth asking for more cover and may be forthcoming. ![]()
