Cool Greater Manchester Police Octavia VRS

Just a quick word of warning to anyone in the Manchester area,

I have driven along side a great looking MK2 Octy VRS; Black, 18" wheels, smoked rear windows today.

Couldnt resist a quick 2k-3.5k rpm blast in my furby to impress the bullet-vest clad driver, but still no obvious signs it was a copper tho.

Later this evening, same car (I am 99.9% sure) flew past my house with full blue lights/strobes/sirens etc. I think its 'MM 08' reg but unsure because the thing went like a bloody rocket.

I have had a 250bhp S40 T4 and I dont remeber it ever accelerating that quick, definately been tinkered with.

I will be double checking before I pace any more octy's!!

DRIVE SAFE GUYS

We have a silver Octavia car over in Hull which is part of the Vehicle Crime Unit (along with the Subarus!).

Best we've got is a 53 plate Jag! Haha! Although the vehicle crime unit might be hiding some souped up motors somewhere...

There is one that is usually seen on the M80 in Glasgow. I've seen it myself on the hard sholder with the lights flashing after pulling someone over!

Ooooh yes, seen that one!

I was doing slightly the wrong side of *** (between 65 and 120) the other day (after having blasted a Cooper S) and it went past me at at least 135-140.

......Thank God he wasn't interested in me!

Yeah some people in gunchester choose to wear them, gangsters, drug-dealers, traffic wardens, security guards, them community response people and the like.

I am a doorsupervisor and a debt collector for a well-know sub-prime finance company in central manchester and could be covering liverpool soon 2 so I am never more than a few feet from my ballistics vest (but i dont drive round with it on!!)

Re: Greater Manchester Police Octavia VRS

im dont think you can but im sure the first 7 digits would be ok as the last digit could be one of 26 anyway did you stick a brisky sticker on the back? may be we could do mirror writing brisky stickers that we stick onto the backs of plod cars

Re: Greater Manchester Police Octavia VRS

Regarding the registrations.......... Personally I wouldnt post it. OK, we probably all hate the getting caught for speeding by unmarked cars thing but quite often these cars are used by several branches of plod over its life. On some operations, the division I worked at had to hire cars for certain operations cos of a local knowledge of CID cars. OK, so the internet may not of been around back then in abundance but all we are doing by posting registrations is helping the real scum of the world in their evasion of the law.

One day car might be used as an unmarked traffic car, next day it could be on a drugs/vice etc job where descretion is that much more important.

So, I would ask you to refrain from posting full registrations.

Steve

Re: Greater Manchester Police Octavia VRS

we use to know all our CID's Mk3 Astras, including the main one k775 --- (last three letters were the same on most of the police cars around here too). in some areas the numbers went up numerically between marked and unmarked, however all cars had one major thing in common (apart from plod driving it) and that was the black rimmed wheels.

But k775 was probably more marked than the marked cars, you would spot the reg before you spotted the car as such.

Re: Greater Manchester Police Octavia VRS

The MK2 vRS that Cleveland has is very hard to spot, came up behind it on the A19 near Middlesbrough (thought it was Smog Monster )

Silver 06 plate, no extra aerials, no extra rear view mirror, no strobes in rear bumper. The only thing that I spotted from behind is the video camera just next to the rear view mirror.

Very stealthy so keep an eye out for it!

Re: Greater Manchester Police Octavia VRS

I wish we had Octy's. We get shafted with 17CTDI Astra and 1.8 Mondeo's.

Allthough recently I had the pleasure to drive a Vauxhall Mariva with blues and twos.

Interesting choice????

Re: Greater Manchester Police Octavia VRS

I've seen this car, believe it has been mapped the way I saw it accelerate from stand still to way past 80mph! There is also a Mk5 Golf GTi in Grey in and around Blackpool that is unmarked!

Re: Greater Manchester Police Octavia VRS

Hi, new to this site as just got Fabia vrs last week.

The GMP Octavia is an 07 reg. It is one of 9 unmarked vehicles in the unit I work in (together with the liveried Subaru)

They aren't used for traffic enforcement generally (unless its REALLY bad!), and are used to target thieving scum car jackers mainly.

I would have to say it doesn't disgrace itself against the Subaru's or Audi A3 3.2 quattro's, and blends in much better with other traffic, which comes in handy sometimes!

Main downside is acceleration in the wet, where it obviously loses out to the 4 wheel drive traction of the others.
