Interesting stats for ya:

V8 has 63bhp per litre

Tremec gearbox is same as in the american muscle cars and will easily handle 500bhp

Rear diff as used in the TVR tuscan and tuscan R.. (altho he did manage to break one in the tuscan)

do you really expect it to stay standard?

Actually Paul - i'm interested to know what you think of it. I've been trying to buy the fabled X-Power 385 which they will probably never put into production now, for OVER 3 YEARS yep. IMHO MG cant organise a p***-up in a brewery these days - the V8 could have been a massive seller if they put the effort into marketing it which they haven't. Still - makes it all the more exclusive!
I've told them where to stick it now - I must admit I hadn't really considered retrofitting the supercharger
If you're down Saaarf pls let me know

It's umm... pleasant.

Sandra summed it up well... chrome highlights to help you find door handles etc with ease, deep carpet, lots of "helpful information" on the dash display (integrated trafficmaster), the V8 is distant and everything is very muted, it's an old mans car.

It certainly goes well, and from outside it sounds lovely, but I think it's more likely to have an induction loop for hearing aids than a bluetooth car kit...

Paul, you've bought a f**king top car there mate. Bargain V8 power, and it's well built (at least the two I've looked at have felt well screwed together - at least as good if not better than my vRS) and supremely well equipped.

I see it's a facelift car, which means you'll have the pansy-**** traction control system I prefer the looks of the pre-facelift model.

I'd love one if I had 22 grand lying around (plus another 5 grand a year for petrol)

you'll have to keep us informed of its progress over the coming years,or months until you get bored with it!!!!

the supercharger conversion will make it a real street sleeper!!!!!

Incidentally Paul, what have your insurance quotes been like? I got a quote on one, and I found I could have insured a 996 C4S or an RS6 estate for less, and Direct Line required a tracker be fitted.

mines an SE which is more difficult to insure allegedly.. is with LV and premium rose a little over octy... but still well under 1k...

the 911 cost me best part of 1500 to insure....
so doesnt seem too bad...

as for the build quality it looks like a bmw.. feels like a bmw... but sounds like mustang!

Know what you mean about the 911s - my dad has had three including the last aircooled Turbo and some of the servicing costs were entertaining! Tried to convince my wife the other day that she wanted my Octy so I could get yours but im afraid she likes her Ibiza too much Anyway, have fun in your search for a track motor.

Interesting, I had heard that as long as you use independents and don't go to a main stealer, Porkers are fairly reasonable for servicing costs (considering that they are peformance cars.)
