Unhappy Skoda won't take back a part!

Its only a bloody hose attachment, but it did cost me £60+vat, so thought as it was new and I stil had the receipt I could get my money back.... Nope, told it was a special order and couldn't be refunded... Damnit!

I thought that if you bought a new product and had a receipt, customer laws (whatever) meant you had the right to return it for a full refund? Bit miffed as I'm going to have to get rid on Ebay now and will only get a fiver I bet.

I might try that. Still can't believe I didn't query the £60+vat price at the time, must have been desperate for it, but then found something else to do the job the same, from existing bits.

Nope. If you have a brand new product and the receipt, you can only take it back if it is faulty.

By law no shop has to take any brand new goods with reciepts back, but most shops do.

Legally they don't have to

And there are signs up in our prts dept clearly saying that special ordered parts cannot be returned. The parts advisors also make it clear.

The only way we would take a part back is if its been ordered wrong by us or we could sel it on. But if its a random part thats going to sit on the shelf you are asking the compny to stick £60 worth of stock onto the shelf that they cant sell as they cant return it to Skoda.

Unless you were advised by the "parts advisor" that you'd also need this bit.

I kind of thought Skoda would just send it back to the main packing place all the bits come from, until someone else wanted to make a special order for this part. If it has to stay on the dealer's parts shelf then I see their point...

Its not even been removed from the knotted plastic bag, so as new as it comes. C'est la vie. Maybe I'l make more than RRP on ebay with it, seems the fashion these days.

Yep bane of my life... I'm now, no reciept, no return with a very few exceptions. Most people are honest but some people are simply trying it on and thus have ruined it for the rest, mainly those who buy stuff from e-bay then try to return it to get more money back. The reciept is the only legal way of proving that you bought it from us, so many people forget that- it's also the guarentee. I love how many people have told me that they are taking me to trading standards, in reality I can't remember any contact with them this year!

Should have bought a Rover Part

we can return parts with a cost price of £30 + providing
its in the same condition as sold and the packaging is in
pristine condition ie the box aint ripped apart and covered in
oil / grease

otherwise its common practice to refuse correctly ordered parts .....
over the years we have dumped or autojumbled £1000`s of parts ordered
so called incorrectly.... you would be amazed at the excuses the trade and
public try because they have diagnosed incorrectly
